Why are Larry and Scarlett almost always exempt from doing the trials?

What's with all the Scarlett hate? She hasn't shirked anything she's been asked to do.

I suppose it's people getting personal because they just don't like her. Fair enough.

How many trials has Carole done? Lisa?

I don't 'get it' either.

I can't understand where any of it comes from either. It's very strange, the sheer venom that's being spouted in her direction. As far as I can see, every trial she has competed in, she's done well. Last night when she had that spider in front of her and then on her face, I was very impressed by her. I have several spiders, including Birdeaters and I wouldn't want one of them anywhere near my face.

As for her job as camp president, the viewers voted her into that job and as that, she isn't allowed to help with any of the other jobs or they lose dingo dollars, we've seen that happen already.

Okay, if there are valid reasons why can't they just let us know?
Nobody is going to judge them badly if Larry has a dodgy hip or Scarlett has a condition of some sort.
If it's because of some private health detail which they're embarrassed about revealing I understand that, they don't have to go into depth. They can be vague. But they're not telling us anything.

For celebrities to go into this show and not be able to do the trials sort of misses the point of what the show is mainly about. Because it's not as if we see much of what goes on in there.”

Why should they be medical conditions they've gone into the show with? How do you know?
They're exempted for private medical reasons and no-one else's business. I never understand why the public assume they have the right to know.
It includes anything affecting their health from being in camp. It's a decision made on medical advice, they don't have any choice about doing tasks if they're exempted and it's perfectly understandable. Do you think IAC wants to be sued for ignoring or risking anyone's health?
This comes up every year and I'm not sure what anyone thinks they might know about anyone's current state of health in the camp now or why they assume they know better than the Doctors who exempt them. It's obviously a great opportunity to have completely unfounded digs and lots of faux medial knowledge about disliked contestants though

The first time I flew or drove over anywhere high was 12 year ago when I was 48 after a year of exposure therapy, CBT and counselling

I still get worried about flying but I can now drive over heights and hang my curtains ”

I bet Hubby is relieved on that one.

Glad you have overcome your fears. I would be like Adam with the spiders, i to have my own language (maybe it is a northern thing)

oh for gods sake, they shouldnt be in there if they have these kind of problems that they cant handle, Campmates are supposed to be there for each other not to hide at every obstacle.

I hate snakes........so wouldnt go in the jungle ever
I hate rats............ so wouldnt go in the jungle
I cant swim.........so woudlnt go in the jungle
I hate creepy crawlies ....so wouldnt go in the jungle
I could never eat live insects for any amount of money......so wouldnt go in the jungle.
i hate heights.....so woudlnt go in the jungle.
I couldnt jump from a helcopter either or eat eel or octopus........ so why are some of these contestants even in there when they cant or wont to trials like others. and for any of them to say they really are scared of snakes etc but can let them crawl over their faces is nonsense, a real phobia of certain animals doesnt just go away for a tv show....so Im a woos and I admit it, but what some will do for money and fame.

The whole point of the show is to see the celebs do embarrassing trials

If they refuse they shouldn't be able to win the show

Stick to big brother !

Post of the week my friend. Ppl are asking why Scarlett is not liked. Its so well documented on here linked with the chosen one mantra we have seen for 4 years running, some must only see what they want to. As for being allowed in with pre existing or supposed pre existing medical conditions, its ridiculous. Put a group in who are good to go for any trial or dont bother. I'm sick of hearing Larry and Scarlett are exempt

Which leads nicely to the question: so why was she allowed in the jungle and chosen to do that challenge? Answer: to garner sympathy and adoration from day 1. All manipulation from Moffatt and the editing and you wonder why she's not liked?!

Havent completly overcome them
as I said I can climb a step ladder now and drive over a flyover but I still get really scared of flying thats why most of my overseas holidays are cruises
I only started to go on aeroplanes because I was sick of having to travel right down the country to get a ferry or train to get to southern europe plus I wanted to go further where I wasnt spending two or three days to get to

Just as a matter of interest, how many of the trials has Scarlett been exempt from? And what did they involve?
The one that she and Carol were chosen for was IMO one of the worst - I wonder how many of us could eat some of those delightful dishes!! They both did extremely well if memory serves me correct? Whats to say, that if Larry or Scarlett had been deemed fit enough for the other trials, they may have done just as well?
Playing Devils Advocate here.

We had this same thing a couple of years ago with Rebecca Adlington who was medically excempt from many trials. She is an olympic gold medalist who would have done well at the trials, it was thought she may have been pregnant but wasn't.

With regard to Larry and Scarlett, the medical exemption must been why they did the canoe entry rather that the tower or parachute entry,

them being on tv doesn't mean we are entitled to personal information about them, no one is forcing you to vote for FREE so stop whinging.

Honestly people are acting like they're the ones demanding they be exempt when its up to the medical team and producers.

This!!!

I think you'd be hard pressed to find 12 people with absolutely no medical issues. They aren't exempt from everything and they seem to be acquitting themselves well in the ones that they have taken part in.

we need to see Scarlett examined live on air to find out if she is ill or just a workshy layabout having a ponce ?

if found to be a scrounger we need sanctions to be imposed, rice for the rest of her stay

Wow! She's not my favourite person but I'm astounded by the fantasy lengths people are going to just to slag this woman off. She was wearing a life jacket and she wasn't afraid of the water, what's the big deal? She's hardly the first person on the show who can't swim or to say they can't, what's the big deal about that?
Where did adoration and sympathy come into it? Apart from your need to make it up to condemn her for no reason at all, it didn't.

No it's not. The pubic voting doesn't have any relevance at all to anyone's confidential medical details. That's stretching self entitlement way beyond the boundaries of reality.
It probably works like that in North Korea.

Its not fantasy, its our opinions , this is a young woman whos claims to have Bells Palsy, which she might have, but how does it stop a person after fifteen years doing certain things, What are they on the show for in the first place, as I would be embarrassed as a younger woman to refuse to do tasks while some of the others have to...what if they all refused, or got a doctors letter, then where would the show be......its a farce having them on who cant do what the others have to...
