Do you hope Phelan gets away with it?

Yes, purely from the point of view that he sticks around for a few more months. People don't have to approve of a character to be entertained by them.

God, no. Keeping him around to just do the same thing over and over again would be dull, giving him a personality transplant and turning him into Eileen's lapdog would be a travesty. Phelan needs to pay.

So has ended up being scammed by the flats development?

Leaving out Phelan and Todd, we have:

Jason - his inheritance from Tony
Sarah - money from shares in Uncle Stephen's company in Italy that she never really knew about in the first place
Rita - savings
Sharif ? (did Sharif actually pay a deposit for a flat for Sonia?)

Anyone else?

Basically it leaves no real financial repercussions for the characters at all. Typical Corrie!

A very good point yeah!!

Leaves the whole story as being kind of pointless from the start!!

Of course Todd's 'good reputation' (which he never had anyway) is going to be questioned but give it a couple of months & everyone will have forgotten all about it
anyway!!

Michael died from a heart attack, but if Phelan had helped him he might have survived. (I cant hold this against him. I was tired of Michael since the Eileen palava)

Mary is my favourite, and I like Gemma, but I consider Phelan to be a comedy character too.

I do wonder if Rita, Sarah and Jason aren't going to get their money back (well, about from the £30k Eileen spent on tiles which'll probably come out of Jason's money) as the UK has extradition treaties with both Mexico (Phelan and Vinny's planned destination) and the USA (Vinny's actual destination).

Do we know that he actually did got to Hawaii though? We saw him telling a nosey neighbour but he may have said that to throw her off the scent, in case Weatherfield's finest come sniffing.

Hehe, spot on buddy
Long live Phelan and lets hope he can con a few more of these pathetic saps along the way.

They would probably end up in Katmandu anyway, given their investigational skills!!

I agree.
If that was where he was supposed to be going, it's a US state, he'd need a US short term visa and using a forged passport? Unlikely.

Have you forgotten already? He's an ace pathetic sap. He's lost the lot, left with a fiver in hs wallet and been left to deal with it all. Couldn't have happened to a nicer person.

Vinny pulled the wool over their eyes too - they had no idea that he was planning to do a runner.

If they want to try to generate a bit of sympathy from the locals, they can even blame themselves for Vinny running; they say they were starting to ask questions about why Vinny kept delaying the ground breaking and saying all the flats weren't sold when Todd was pretty certain he'd signed up enough people. They must have scared him off, so sorry, never meant too.

I can see them getting away with this, but I don't think Phelan's going to be able to stick around; if nothing else, his pride won't let him stay where he's had to crawl to people.”

BIB - do you not think the complete lack of construction might hint at his guilt?

Noooooo, don't be logical! .................

CCTV?
They're up to their necks in it.
Potless loser Phelan will be round there frantically totally refurbishing an old wreck of a building in record breaking time without materials and money.
That fiver won't go far.

Seriously Jason, Sarah, Rita etc will shout about it but they won't get their money back. Todd and Phelan will blag it out, blame Vinny

Actually that could lead to another storyline

Phelan "Hey Eileen....he could be in hawaii.."
Eileen "~Oh what are we going to do?"
Phelan "Well, I think I can track him down.....but I need twenty grand"
Eileen "good idea.....have some money....how will you recognise him?"
Phelan "well, he'll be wearing a Hawaiian shirt.....there won't be many of those in Hawaii?"
Eileen "Good idea....have some more money....take my house?"

THat's rather daft.

If they take my advice don't send that sour faced detective to Mexico after Vinny. She'll end up in the Tijuana jail with her attitude, never to be heard of again.

PMSL.

Eileen's an idiot. I mean who spends 30k on tiles in one go?

I agree that he has committed fraud, but attempted murder? That would would be a stretch to prove. Was what he did morally reprehensible? Absolutely. Most normal, non-sociopaths would call 999 in that situation, and not just walk away, even if it was someone you loathed. I can't see how it could be construed as attempted murder though.

When I said there was nothing for him to get away with, I was talking about the financial side. Vinny took all the money so even though we know Pat was the main player behind the scam, it will look as though Vinny took them for a ride, and Pat will very likely not see any repercussions. Unless Eileen or Todd spill the beans.

Yes Phelan could get away with this pin it all on Vinny and convince the dimwits on the street the same, and as Anna has no actual evidence of anything why should anyone believe her they only have her word for it there was messages on Phelan's phone after all said and done.

If I remember rightly the original plan he explained to Todd was Vinny doing a runner with all the dosh and them left behind to say to all the mugs "oh dear look what naughty Vinny has done" or something like that.

Someone who thought they had several flats to tile.

I would love it, if Phelan came back and buttered Eileen up and eventually got her to sign the house over to him (underhanded of course) then boot the stupid bint onto the cobbles. It would be so much fun to watch !

no i can't stand him! awful character i can't understand his popularity!

this is what i hope. i hope he gets killed off in a whodunnit. he's a shelf life character (prison is wayyy too good for him) hes made loads of enemies and seems to b getting nastier each episode. i think and hope he will end up killed off. i would of said Gary would kill him, but after last night i could see Andy doing it tbh (if it happened) did u see his eyes in the Platt house when he found out Phelan was involved in Les D's death last night?

Andy looked like he wanted to murder Phelan and i hope he does

That's irrelevant. We all saw him try to kill MIchael.

I do not approve of criminals
