Hahaha she was protecting Bobby, it's "what she did for love" but after reading JB's list I'm not so sure now. I forgot about all that!

I bet he's more than made up for it since he's been released though

What pisses me off the most is the way she gets to roll about the square moralising and preaching to anyone who'll listen about parenting and morals. Every young person she has had a hand in raising is either dead or a disaster:

Lucy - Dead.
Bobby - Chairman and President of the Greater Good Society
Peter - Impotent scumbag drug dealer with absolutely no friends, and suffers severe erectile dysfunction.
Steven - Has a habit of shooting people.
Cindy - McBeale tried to steal her baby then drove her out of the country out of spite.

Lock the sociopath up.

He did try it on with her once and she turned him down.

I'm sure Jane visited Max in prison and gave him a once over to make him feel better and all .

Chasing after the next vulnerable young girl no doubt .

And no doubt the same old chat-up lines were being wheeled out by Max...

"Baaabe, don't leave me, I luv ya! It's always been you!"

True but she wasn't alone in that. Others have (unrealistically) turned a blind eye including Max's own daughter and nephew.

Ian and Jane were at least affected by Max's imprisonment at the time. Ian was driven to a suicide attempt. Jane committed perjury to try and get him off the hook.

Max may never have been imprisoned if Phil hadn't bribed the jury foreman to sway a guilty verdict. Phil only did that for petty reasons too which makes it worse.

Quote:
“Phil isn't responsible for the cover up and dumping of lucys body either”

Phil trashed Heather's flat to make her murder look like a burglary gone wrong. He also got rid of evidence from Carl White's flat after Ronnie killed him. He's no innocent when it comes to something like this Sorcha.

He's not just a bystander in this. He contributed to Max's imprisonment. Then there's other stuff like because of him a man was burnt to death in 1994. He also - albeit indirectly - has the blood of Dennis Rickman and Kevin Wicks on his hands.

Prior to Max going down more people were defending Jane but in the Max situation others behaved worse than she did. Jane wanted to go to the police last Christmas and Ian stopped her. Before that she was wavering and made it clear to Sharon she thought that Max going down was wrong. Sharon manipulated her into holding her nerve "Who do you care about more? Max or Bobby?". That was just before Sharon swanned about the courthouse corridors proclaiming Max going down as 'being for the best'. I'm more disgusted with people like Phil, Sharon and Lauren (Lauren who took months to say anything then gave up after one attempt) who weren't protecting their son than I am at Jane and Ian.

While Jane getting her karma via Bobby turning on her and ending up in a wheelchair isn't to everyone's taste it's more of a comeuppance than others have had in this story i.e. zilch. It wouldn't surprise me if they whitewash Phil and Sharon's involvement altogether.

It is clear that they think they have done enough to redeem her by disabling her. But it is not just Lucy we are talking about here. She let an innocent man be arrested, found guilty of murder and let the same innocent man spend a year in jail, lose his family and financial assets. When he did finally come out of jail he was left with nothing.

Jane was a good character but she should of gone when the truth came out. Her character is done. I can't bear to watch her.

If the new producer cares so much about characters getting their commuppance, then it is time to let this one go - for good!

You're probably right, lea.
Sorcha is Max's true love, I can't compete with that sadly .

How am I meant to compete with a man who can hypnotise women with his bum? I'm fighting a losing battle here.

So did practically half the cast to be fair and unlike Jane some have shown zero remorse for that.

When Ian got a letter from Max a few weeks ago, Sharon laughed it off as an 'empty threat' totally ignorant as to why Max might be peeved off and how doing that to someone could make them capable of causing you some serious harm.

I actually wanted everyone involved to be dealt with by the police but not written out. That would've meant lenient sentencing. Not fully realistic, perhaps, but more realistic than what we did get and it would've spared us the police suddenly believing Lucy died on the common after all when their theory she hadn't had been such a big part of the original investigation/storyline. So this wasn't my preferred ending but I am finding Jane's current struggles interesting.

Every so often they do throw in a line that suggests she's learnt something from this mess. There was one to Sharon about how she should've gone to the police about Bobby when Sharon was dithering about missing Ben. There was also one to Steven the other week about no good coming from lying your way out of a crisis. Others refuse to even entertain the idea they've been in the wrong in this situation.

Mostly I'm just glad Bobby has gone and the story has progressed beyond him lurking behind doors and being pandered to and quietly talked about by members of his family. That got old.

Also I presume the point of keeping Ian and Jane out of prison was so they'd be there for Max to take his revenge on them. Bit hard to do that if they're both incarcerated.

Lauren and Abi willingly turned their backs on their father albeit Abi was manipulated by Phil to begin with.

Lauren left him languishing in prison for a couple of months before telling the police the truth. That didn't work out for her (the bent cop rejected her statement) so she let him rot in prison for nearly a year without trying again and who knows if she ever would've tried again. She returned to Walford after the truth had come out by other means.

Now both Branning girls act like they're the ones who've been let down by Max.

I think Max lost his assets before he was sent to prison. Earlier in the year he scammed The Arches off Phil so in revenge Phil scammed The Arches and the car lot back from Max. Max didn't own his house. He was buying it from Jack but had only started the process 2 and a bit years previously so I doubt he'd paid much off it. Max was actually living with Carol at the time of his arrest. He was renting out the house as he couldn't afford to live there after Phil scammed him.
