Wardrobe - who drew the short straw?

I was wondering what forum members think of the outfits this year.

At least we don't seem to have Kellie-type disasters this time, and fewer pockets on men's trousers. In fact Danny for one seems to have had decent dance trousers each week! Has he bribed Vicky?

Cloudier has had some poor costuming. Vicky and the gang can really stuff it up on atypical shapes. The jive outfit was ... very unpleasant and did her no favours.

Daisy's charleston outfit was odd too. Given how fantastic the raw material was there, it's hard to see how they managed to make her look that bad. Didn't much go for the rumba-curtain either.

Louise's VW frock looked like an attempt to hide a 7 month pregnancy, but that was during the "I'm being modest" storyline, so I guess that may have been a personal choice.

Rindy and Ore have both had some questionable choices. Lederhosen and parrot-wear for the Judge and Ore's striped pyjama outfit in dogpoo-brown and vomit-orange.

The general prevelance of hot-pink and matching shirts with overlay.

I think they've been fairly even-handed this year.

Claudia's jive dress was horrible, too short, awful colour. Louise's was also the wrong colour for the lighting effects.

Jo has had bit of a short straw this year two recycled dresses for the salsa a dress she wore in BBC proms and her Waltz dress was recycled too

Agree dresses have been marginally better than last but they are still getting Claudia's outfits all wrong

video of Mina linnik holden who is 14 years old and with her partner won u/16 nationals at blackpool in both ballroom and latin last week - is not impossible to dress smaller girls in the right clothes

Indeed. I feel most for Claudia really as she's from an environment where you simply do not argue about what you wear and has suffered some very poor costuming.

I love a lot of Vicky Gill's design ideas, but they all seem to be superimposed on an ideal rather than the reality - men and women both.

One thing I've noticed is a lack of women getting their heels caught in their hems, which is a big improvement.

I thought Daisy's last outfit was odd, it made her look as if she was all legs, but not in a good way. Difficult to dress such an attractive woman badly, but they managed it.

Claudia's jive outfit was awful, made her look stumpy and waistless, Also thought Nat's paso outfit was a bit odd - she looked as if they'd assembled it from a quick scour round a jumble sale for things that looked vaguely 'Spanish'.

Have to say, thought, I am appreciating the costumes being overall less revealing than they have been recently. We haven't yet had Darcy and Tess and Bruno perving over a bare chest, which is a big relief for me, and the women's Latin costumes have been a bit more low key.

Claudia Winkelman as usual, it's written into Tess's contract that CW must be dressed in a potato sack every week.

I was talking to my sister about Louise and Kevin's outfits on Saturday and she says they looked like camouflage!

Claude always looks like she's had a fight with the makeup and styling team... all clashing colours & scary loud themes... like a clown at a children's tea party

Louise has had some lovely gowns, her red Foxtrot number was gorgeous! As was her Paso & American Smooth dresses - hope she's all in white for a stunning Waltz this weekend!
The Cha Cha outfit was less then stellar... showed off her large juicy thighs... probably not what she wanted Vicky! WHAT was the giant Cushion she was wearing during her Viennese Waltz?!

Joanne's this years cast-off dancer... there's one every year and this time it's her turn to front the old, has been frocks...

Anastacia had a lovey dress for her Viennese Waltz, it looked like a costume-y version of Bella's wedding dress from Twilight and hit all the right notes!

Natalie's had a few shockers.... the Robin Hood Maid Marion dress was awful... no shape or style. Her Samba ensemble looked messy and ugly... went with Greg's pink flowery shirt well though!

Didn't like Laura's Tango or Quickstep outfits... they looked too long/short. Her Waltz dress was lovely and unusual having yellow colours incorporated into the gown!

Oti's Paso dress was disgusting! Not flattering or Catherine Zeta-esque like at all... short in front and long at the back... like Mullet type of dress.

Wee Claudia looks too short and stumpy in everything! All her gowns have been alittle scary and the Jive cheerleader outfit was a disaster!

Yeah it's been a bad year for wardrobe this year!

Louise looked awful for the first few weeks as the Gill woman attempted to make her look as terrible as she could. Thankfully she's been dressed much better recently.

Claudia was never tall enough to reach a straw. She always ends up with what's left in the "dressing up basket."

I notice several yucky semi-opaque tights this year. I'm not sure what the point was, offensive tattoos?

Who was it one year had tattoos on the backs of her calves?

I think it was Dani Hamer four years ago if memory serves. I liked her but her tats were not a classy look.

I'm not familiar with that name.
I think it was a soap actress, I'm not a watcher of soaps, so I'm not really sure who it was. But whoever it was, she did well. It surprised me she had them and they looked ugly.
I think they covered them up in later dances.

Katmobile is right. Dani Harmer, tiny girl, kiddie soap actor, partnered with Vincent Simone. They danced with Toto!

Thanks for that. I looked up Dani Hamer on Wiki, so I didn't find anything.

They use special make-up to cover tattoos, not tights. It works brilliantly, like the stuff you can get to cover port wine birth marks.

I hate those flesh coloured fishnet tights they give the girl celebs to wear - even Beyonce wears them on stage. Bare legs with fake tan looks so much nicer, like the Pro ladies have.

Dani Harmer played Tracey Beaker for many years.

Laura wore Helen George's tango dress from the SCD tour 2016.

Jo has worn recycled outfits as many on here have said.

Claudia's outfits put me in mind of Vicki thinking she was dressing a child. For goodness sake Claudia is 19, hardly a kid. But the worst dress ever was that jive monstrosity. Someone posted upthread that a fuller skirt would have been better. (not longer, just fuller. Vicki is fond of godet panels to give fullness to a skirt)

And what is it with PINK this series even to the point of putting the men in pink suits at Blackpool.

This year's celebs have not been lucky in the choices from wardrobe.

I'm glad the gentleman have been mentioned some of Ore's outfits have been truly horrible and I wasn't a fan of Greg's purple suit thing at Blackpool. Rindy and Oxsana's salsa outfits were also ghastly too.

Will's trousers were a shocker.
I've not liked many of the girl's dresses this year but they are mildly better that some of last year's horrors. Kellie's quickstep dress that didn't fit and bagged on her shoulders for instance. Caroline Flack also got the dreary nightdress treatment.
Oti's paso dress looked like a blind person assembled it.

I'd forgotten Will's trousers, and the mis-matched striped polo shirt!

Will's trousers were a horror only erased by Rindy's lederhosen.
