Why do the Cliftons get so much attention on these boards?

I think the people got a bit fed up of Kevin being pushed as 'Kevin from Grimsby' by TPTB and didn't like Jo being added, plus his fiancé Karen (now Karen Clifton of course) being in the show. And at one stage Mama and Papa Clifton and their dance school were making appearances as well. It felt a bit like Strictly had become a Clifton PR machine.

Having said that, I think Kevin and Jo add a lot to the show and would miss them if they left. Kevin's enthusiasm and obvious competitiveness may be a bit OTT for some people, but to be fair he always gets on with his partners and gets the best out of them. I don't think Susanna Reid would have got as far with a different partner.

Only positive attention from me. I really like Kevin. I love the way he works with his partners and the really great, imaginative choreography he produces. I'm slightly less of a fan of Karen and Jo, but they both seem nice enough, too.

So if TPTB started referring to Aljaz as 'Aljaz from Slovenia' and added his sister to the cast, he would deserve a similar amount of bile from these forums?

Kevin has been in the finale so many times, against the fan favourites, and people invent reasons to hate the competition. That sums it up to me. I mean a week or so ago there was a thread of him 'losing it', because he wore a hat.

People also invent reasons to try and dismiss other people's opinions. It couldn't possibly be that people make judgements on other people in everyday life, so when these people are on telly the same is going to happen. Then people, heaven forfend, post their opinions on an opinion forum.

Statistics? There are more of them, so they are bound to come up more often.

A bit like you did here with me. I clearly said 'that sums it up for ME'. All the 'reasons' for the Kevin dislike sound manufactured and bogus to ME. And I've read many. But you're here dismissing my opinion, like you claim is happening to Kevin dislikers.

Kevin has been one of the best additions to the show, at least he has enthusiasm and genuine spark of personality... He also reads his celebrity partners well, teaches and dances great routines and never dances above their level or shows himself off

Brendan lost that years ago and has been going through the motions, until he had Sophie in 2013... that was a brief comeback. The whole hover-board thing in Anastacia's Jive was a complete mess and all about him!
Same story with Anton until Lesley this year & Katie last year.

Joanne I'm not that keen on. Never had a decent partner and I don't like Ore at all... fake smiles and cry baby tears

Karen seems like fun but the bullying and bitching rumours seem to stick with that one... dunno how she landed Kev who seems genuine and sweet!

Overall they should dump Jo and Karen after this year... well at least Karen after the Will fiasco... but keep Kevin as he's still invested. They need to keep the bubbly, fun dancers otherwise it'll be a boring show with no big personalities.

Would be happy to see Janette Manrara get to the boot too, she is woeful and always gets a biddy dancer who's only good at one dance... poor Melvin couldn't even manage that this year.

Oh and Giovanni... always has a creepy eye watching the ladies... I'd bet if he's back next year the GG fans will still sabotage any partnership they put him in... needs an old biddy like Ruth Langford, the 'golden oldie' they get from soap-land or Lorraine Kelly!

In fairness the one person I've met who hailed from there said it was a hole so I guess there's some truth to that. They've become a bit of a posse on the show and that invites some suspicion and hostility which at times isn't helped by their own behaviour. I like Karen and Joanne and I think they are assets to the show but their baying of 'under marked' on the remembrance day show played straight into the hands of the Clifton critics.

All it boils down to for me is I don't like him on the show. Call that 'bogus' all you like but frankly it's just human nature. We like some people and we don't like others. There's no point going any further because you don't seem to want to accept that people don't like him. (And before anyone starts, I don't need to know him to know that I don't like him on the show.)
