Phelan has become one of the best characters on Corrie and I was thinking the show should capitalize oh his popularity and introduce other members of his family. I was thinking they could give him a son and daughter in their 20s or 30s and introduce his mom as well.

Pat Jr. (PJ)- is the exact opposite of his dad, would never harm a fly and wants noting to do with his dad or his schemes.

Patrice- She would be a chip off he old block. manipulative and scheming just like her dad will do anything to gain money and power.

Mama Phelan: Mama Phelan might be getting up there in age but she is a force to be reckoned with. She says whatever is on her mind no matter how inappropriate and will defend her family at all costs even if Phelan is up to his old tricks.

It would be interesting having more backstory and why he is the way he is. Maybe his mother was abusive towards him, hence why he likes to goad Anna.

That could work, it could help humanize him a bit and get all the haters off his back. Now are you thinking it would be sexual or physical abuse? Either way it'd be interesting, I don't think I've seen a story where the mom was the abuser.

I remember his wife from his previous storyline and she seemed ok, I'd quite like her to make a return and cause some upset for him and horrible Eileen

Wasn't she just as scheming as Phelan? She was in on the blackmail with Anna wasn't she?

She was indeed. If I remember correctly she had her own salon and nail bar. She duped Owen and Anna into believing that they were loaded and when it all came out, they were swimming in debt and every asset they had was in her name.

That's right, maybe they could re introduce her by having her try to buy the salon from Audrey.

Yes, Valerie her name was. She was as bad as him. They had a scam going where he put everything in her name and periodically made himself bankrupt as part of his scams. They split up after the Owen business but I can't remember if it was explained why. She took the big house and everything as it was all in her name and he was left penniless scratching around for jobs such as Kevin's garage extension which was how he pitched up on Coronation Street.

Was thinking today there has to be a mini-Pat somewhere. A terrible lad who take after his parent

Would like to see Mama Pat - a jaundiced old scouser/irishwoman who takes out her bad moods on her son

Yeah I remember Owen and Garreh turning up at their mansion looking for assets of Phelans to seize after he ripped them off, so they broke in and stole his motorbike?!

Why would his wife come back to him unless she's now broke?

Didn't she kick him out when she caught him with another woman and keep everything he'd put in her name, and that's why he turned up broke in Corrie?

She's probably living the high life without him.

She's still in Dubai as far as we know.

Yes, that sounds right, he was caught playing away, she kicked him out and he came back to the UK. All a bit odd really as they were said to have something of an open marriage when we were first introduced to her.

I think the actor just signed a new one year contract, so maybe we shouldn't count our chickens just yet....

In mid October, the actor just said his contract had been extended - nothing about a new contract or how long the extension was.

Yes the rest of the Phelan family would be great they could become the dominant family in Corrie, maybe Phelan could con Steve and Liz out of the Rovers so they could live there, his son and daughter could be responsible for running it while he still has a hand in the builders yard.

Doubt there'd be more Phelans - his wife probably has more sense than to take him back and there's never been mention of any Phelan children.

Valerie told Anna that Phelan had, had numerous affairs over the years, in true soap fashion he could have long lost children who show up looking for him.

Just because they haven't been mention doesn't mean they couldn't be introduced that's the great thing about fiction they could just be added in.

But Phelan has no feelings for anyone, so, even if children did appear, he'd just use them to get what he wanted and then leave them with nothing - unless, of course, they'd been taught by Vinnie how to out-con their father.

Sounds like you speak from experience.
