Hi all, I am getting a new contracted iPhone on Saturday. Once I receive it I will need to contact EE so they can port my number on my current phone over. Can I have both the old and new iPhone set up with my Apple ID at the same time? Just not sure how to set things up for the cross over period while my number goes over. Thanks

Yes, I have my Apple ID set up on 2 iPhones and 3 iPads at present.

You can, though someone I know got themselves in a right pickle with imessage linking the account to the 'outgoing' number on the new phone. It was flagging imessages with the defunct number for days after the port. In the end they had to reset the account.

I'd be inclined to back up to i-cloud your account and settings from the old phone, but don't restore the new phone with the back up until the port has been completed

So just set the new phone up as a new phone to start with then once the port is done reset it then restore to the back up from my old phone?
