Why is it not on Sky Atlantic, behind a paywall ?

I am so unused to watching US drama series over the past four or five years (except Homeland). I feel a bit like a pauper being shown how to use a knife and fork again.

It is good, but will Channel 4 be able to keep it ?

Be case Channel 4 took a punt. Sky couldn't be a***d, heck not everything from US needs to be lining the Aussie paper boy's pocket.

Yes, it aired in the US. Normally anything like this would air after the watershed (10pm in the US) but it's rare.
Interesting, thanks.
I know brief nudity used to be allowed on US network television post 10pm, but since the whole ‘Janet Jackson SuperBowl’ thing they’ve gone backwards. I think this is the first network programme in years to feature nudity of any kind, even if it was very short.

Really enjoyed this. Only vaguely remember 30something but got the impression from the trailers that it has a similar feel. I liked the 36th birthday link, interesting characters, thought they would turn out to be school friends initially so didn't twig at first two were twins. When the fireman sparked up in the maternity ward still didn't catch on that it had to be c1980 until I saw lots of people smoking . Clever comment from absent birth dad "so these are your parents" when looking at a photo we didn't see. The beautiful scene with the older doctor and dad and the babies in the 3 matching babygrows had me look forward to future episodes.

Just one thing, I hope C4 don't bin this off to their bleddy version of iplayer after a few eps like they do with some of their other overseas dramas.

Well said, that All4 exclusive "Walter Presents" bollox is bugging the sh*t out of me. Have not watched any of them online as squinting at a 14" pc monitor is not entertainment in my eyes.

I watch mostly TV5 and BBC Four nowadays.

^^ Agree, bbc4 is usually good value for dramas. Kevin the TV critic on The Wright Stuff sang the praises of This Is Us this morning.

TV5 Monde Europe is a must watch for anyone who loves the foreign dramas on BBC Four and More 4, lots of great French drama series and films that have epg subtitles in english.

You echo mine and my wife's view on this show. Had a bit of a wow factor, lots of amusing lines and just about the right amount of sentimentality.

A most promising start with the hope that the following 17 episodes are as good.

Gosh, wasnt expecting that. Good ending.
i enjoyed that...milo was great in the hospital scenes.
the twist at the end was a surprise.
Thought it was OK until the end twist then thought it was most excellent
Agree with all, didn't see that twist at the end and what a very heartwarming twist it was too.

Sky might nab it if it gets a second series.
They did the same with LOST.

Did nobody watch episode 2 last night? Another twist at the end that I didn't see coming.

I watched it and enjoyed it. Yes, what has happened to the triplets' Dad?

I'm guessing he's either dead from alcoholism or his wife divorced him due to his alcoholism, I didn't realise until I read on the DS main page that it was the same actress playing the older version of herself, it looked nothing like her in my opinion.

I watched it and for the second time I have to say I did not see that coming. Though according to my sister who was less keen on This is Us, the 'big shocker' does get tiresome after a bit. Quite how she knows I have no idea. But I'll keep going, for a bit.

Looks like the forums are back at last, I would have responded sooner otherwise. Anyway, I like the fact that there seems to be a twist each week as it gives a good reason to watch the next episode.

I hope it's not going to focus on the sisters weight issues every week as it will get pretty tiresome.

Just a reminder that Episode 3 is on tonight, although judging by the lack of posts, not many on these forums seem to be watching it.

I am and enjoying it very much. I think the way the characters are shown at different stages of their lives is very effective and poignant. I find the characters believable and care about them.

^^ me too. Interested in the characters and where it's going. The twist last week with mum being with dad's colleague now is intriguing. Wonder how long to find out their story?

The brother of the twins annoys me, he seems way too reliant on his sister, he should grow a backbone and not rely on her anymore and get a better attitude too, that strop he threw on the set of the show he was in should have got him fired in my opinion.

It's still ticking over, although I am starting to be distracted during the show.

I'm really enjoying this. I like the way it darts between the timelines but remains uncomplicated. I think the script is excellent, particularly for Randall.

I'm watching and enjoying it too. RE: the different timelines, I did think double denim was an "unusual" choice for the father of the triplets before realising that those scenes in the hospital were from a few decades prior to 2016.

But isn't that part of what waiting for the story to unfold and see why they are the way they are all about? The twins both seem to have issues. For Kate it's her weight, for Kevin he's a self absorbed narcissist who has to rely on her or others to function. Randall seems the most sorted of the three of them.
