I kind of agree. She does go overboard sometimes and her acting style reminds me of that of the actress who played Cilla, Fizz and Chesney's mum. She was SO panto it was ridiculous.

She can be funny and she can be quite sweet but OTT crap like the scene last night with the bloke who didn't even look remotely like Peter Andre spoil the character for me!! She needs toning down a bit from those types of scene imo!!

Got to say, I did find it funny last night when she got a text and a visit from the not so good Peter Andre lookalike. For a minute, I thought it was Peter Barlow playing a prank (and he is much better looking than the lookalike guy)! I don't mind her, and I have been reeled into the show with the Phelan / Michael storyline and this with psycho-cow Caz.

I can take her in small doses but the scene where she sexually harassed the Peter Andre 'lookalike' in the middle of the street was plain awful and over the top in my opinion.

If it was the other way around and it was a female 'star' and a male fan came over to her and started stripping her and kissing her in the middle of the street with the female star obviously hating every moment it wouldn't be so funny

I am surprised anyone can compare her to the likes of Kylie, Leanne or Toyah. Difference is the actresses who play them can act, and didn't turn into 'comedic' buffoons. Even when they were "bad" they didn't overact, like Gemma did with Callum and his clownish gang.

I agree - the scene where she launched herself at Pedro Andre was over the top (imo ) and a bit embarrassing to watch, though I did laugh a bit.

This sums it up for me. In the hands of a decent actor we could have seen Gemma develop but as it is she is dreadful. I never enjoy comedy characters. Gemma doesn't come across as funny, she's offensively stupid.

I agree. I like Gemma normally, but the scene with "Pedro" was too OTT. I hope he went to the police and filed a complaint against her!

Personally, I would say that the "bitchy dig" has come entirely from you and you are the one, in fact, who cannot take a different opinion. I find it interesting how someone can call Gemma "ghastly", when she's basically good at heart and yet is a fan of Phelan who is a completely despicable character, with no redeeming characteristics whatsoever. Just my opinion of course.

Gemma is despicable. Dealt in drugs, helped kidnap David and having him beaten up, was indirectly responsible for Kylie's death. Practically sexually assaulted Pedro in the street. And much much more. Nope, I don't buy into this attempt at a personality transplant to make her "lovable" with a heart of gold. The Gemma we knew would have robbed the old biddy Rita.

People do reform though. At least she has shown the desire to change her life. Phelan has shown no such desire.

Gemma was not responsible for Kylie's death. I admit she came into the show as a bad girl and I didn't like her at first, but now she's reformed I do like her and I love her relationship with Rita. I also love the humour she brings to the show.

I do have a sense of humour, I just can't stand obnoxiously loud characters like Gemma. She shouts every line and is over the top.


Sorcha is allowed to dislike Gemma and like Phelan if she wants to. If you haven't noticed, many posters like Phelan mostly because they don't like Anna and Eileen and he isn't boring like other characters. Some people also just prefer villains. But it doesn't matter, we're all entitled to our opinions and none of us should be attacked over them.

The whole point was that he looked nothing like Peter Andre.
The character of Gemma has so little in the way of nice things in her life that anybody doing something nice for her then she will go over the top.
