Do Ant Dec make or break the show??
At times they comes across as bumbling idiots ....think Joe Swash and Chris Ramsey on the other show.......
Arguably it is the mix of celebrities that make the show work.....10 minutes per show of Ant Dec giggling, saying calm down and don't panic is a tired act... If it was an Ant Dec free show...ie Big Brother in a jungle clearing...would you still watch? |

Absolutely not. They're cheesy, they're daft, but they are very good at being cheesy and daft and it definitely wouldn't be the same without them. I know some think they are biased in how they treat different contestants and that may be, but just think of the ITV2 show - presenters are VERY important.

Oh come on. They're hysterical! They still make me laugh all those years after it started.
Sure it's the same old stuff, the thinly veiled sexuality jokes, the inappropriate friendship, and all the rest, but it's still just so brilliant. They're awesome. Gotta love them. |

I think they are nice people, but their jokes are so peurile, they merely re-enact something we've just seen on screen. I don't think anybody else would get away with it, but they are so loved by the GBP that they make an extremely dull and worn-out format watchable.

I like Ant and Dec but I would really like them to do one of the trials. The guys on Extra Camp do all of the trials.

I'm not quite sure I'd carry on watching it if they stopped doing it

And they need to be together - that ending with them in different places was just so weird.

They have become stale and their jokes are not funny anymore. It is just the same thing every year
They see a situation in the camp and then they re enact it and make it funny. But this series they have lost their touch. Maybe they are getting bored of the show |

Well this year I'm not bothering with any of the jungle 'action', and am only watching their links, So Ant and Dec definitely make the show for me, as if they weren't presenting it I wouldn't be watching at all! I just love them.
I haven't seen it mentioned elsewhere on this forum, but they phoned into their friend's local BBC radio show to talk about the show on Monday. http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p04h57yr (Such a cute photo on that link!) |

I can't stand the pair of them (Ant more so than Dec) but they're absolutely brilliant at this job. Myself and the OH still crack up at some of the things they come out with (and he can't stand them either).

The show wouldn't have lasted this long without them at the helm.

Arguably it is the mix of celebrities that make the show work.....10 minutes per show of Ant Dec giggling, saying calm down and don't panic is a tired act... If it was an Ant Dec free show...ie Big Brother in a jungle clearing...would you still watch? Ant and Dec are brilliant. The show wouldn't be anywhere near as good without them. If ITV decided to get rid of them and show it in a Big Brother type format they'd get countless complaints except for a tiny handful of 'change for change sake' fanatics. Apart from that you couldn't do it like a BB format because the contestants don't spend all their time in the camp. They have to leave the jungle to do trials. Who would speak to them and talk them through the trials. The other thing is that Ant and Dec are that rare thing these days - they appeal to people of all ages whether you're young or old which is why they've been so successful for all these years. |

I might watch if they weren't the presenters, but I doubt it - maybe just dip in and out to see who's in camp.
Ant and Dec are brilliant at what they do, they're sharp and right on their game - I can't think of anyone else, either as a pair or just one person, who could do IAC any better. I don't agree that they're in a rut, I think they manage to keep it relatively fresh, given that they're working with the same format every year - it is what it is. When you look at the 4 presenters on the new spin off show, you realise how important the hosts are in this arena. All 4 of them are rubbish, they should take lessons from Ant & Dec - although having said that, I think what A&D have can't be learned! |
