Ant never was funny.

Dec is the Eric Morecambe of the pairing and he is naturally funny.

I think Ant realises this and always seems a bit jealous of Dec.

Not only are they not so funny anymore the whole show has lost its originality and descended into using closed chambers and unnecessary amount of 'Critters' . It's boring now and I fast forward through my recorded episodes.
Frankly, I don't know why I watch it now - it's way passed its sell-by date.

It was just a joke though , and I get that some Australians will watch in the UK but is ITV showing it in Australia or did lots of Australians in the Uk suddenly phone home to tell people to complain or did some of delightful media make it into something bigger than it was ?

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz..._campaign=1490

Dec, 41, began: ‘As you know this job is about ruling over a group of uncouth layabouts who rarely wash and can barely light a fire.'

To which his partner Ant, also 41, replied: ‘Basically, it’s like being the Australian prime minister!’

Queensland MP George Christensen said: ‘Far be it for me to take offence of the inane ramblings of some reality TV show star wants to spew out, but actually there’s a long-standing joke in Australia about the Brits not washing, so

Senators, MP's making comment, this has to be the British tabloid media winding it up
I know it was a joke, actually quite a funny joke i thought and my view of Australians is that they have a wicked sense of humour and wouldn't actually mind a bit of poking fun at them, that's just when i noticed A&D being a bit more muted.

I agree Calam, i think it got to And & Dec. I like them, but they are not ones to ever cause offence.

I don't agree. I still find Ant and Dec funny. And I don't think the show's 'gone down' - indeed, for me it's improved. There's a 'feel good' atmosphere about it which is a great contrast to other events in the world. My only criticism would be that they're all too good at trials! Though it's also interesting to see them facing fears with courage rather than fainting!

Watching them tonight. It is like they are trying too hard to be funny when in the past it came naturally to them. The entire series is like they are both trying to be funny straight away instead of just presenting the show
Because like most things, they run their course.

I always watched this show because it made me laugh. The format and A&D.

I finally stopped watching it a year ago because A&D are stale now and the tasks were so repetitive.

Agree. This is me exactly. Plus I don't think it's anything to do with the right or wrong celebs. It's all too stale with trials taking over the show with hardly any interaction between them. It's probably gone on for too long.

I still think they're probably the main reason to tune in to this show...they have got bitchier though, making no bones about who they personally like and dislike, they should be more impartial and take the mick out of all of them.

Because it is two middle-aged men making the same boring jokes for the last 20 years. Unfortunately, these two haven't progressed, they are still doing the same shtick they did 5 years ago.

You have to know when to quit the gig and let younger, hungry presenters pick up the mic.

Maybe the lack of laughter from the crew in the studio is because their jokes are not funny. I think they should sack their scriptwriter as he is crap
Is it a different scriptwriter this year?

Something's definitely off. Mind you they have been doing it since 2002!

Can't say I've ever found them that funny. They were pretty good kids TV presenters but they never moved on from that and seeing a couple of middle aged men still trying to be down with the kids is a bit cringey.

is it because Ant is now a giant-sized Dec?
Or maybe they have decided to be a bit 'edgier' and the jokes don't work as well??

Thinking about it, this is the most likely reason. They've obviously felt comfortable over the years there, knowing that they could relax with their effortless interaction and say what they wanted as the crew and Australian's watching, got them! They're still professional enough to keep going but to suddenly be thought of as being disrespectful to a Nation, would affect them. They often joke, saying "evening Maam" and ""eveing Primeminister" in other words, although it's unlikely, wouldn't it be wonderful if someone at that level watch (and enjoyed it!)

I know I'm a bit odd but I find Ant's beard very off-putting. It makes him look much older than Dec and he doesn't seem as if he wants to be there.

We,re both odd in that case then, i don,t like it either. I wondered of it was because he has put a bit of weight on and it is to hide his double chin?
