What's real acting? You sound like a snob.

You do realise there are many soap actors who have gone on to do exceptionally well don't you? In any case there's nothing wrong with soap actors who decide a steady pay cheque is more appealing than a life of uncertainty.
So you would put him on a par with Tom Hanks or Dustin Hoffman? They're real actors because they become the people they are portraying. Most soap actors are the same character ( themselves) whatever there appear in.
I don't think appreciating good acting makes me a snob and calling people names is very childish.
There is nothing wrong with being a soap actor but, as I said before, very few make it onto the big time.Fact.

I think appearing in a soap puts the kibosh on a serious acting career but I don't think that necessarily makes them a poor actor. A few have made it big, including Ben Kingsley who started his career in Corrie.

Obviously I wouldn't put him him on a par with the likes of those you've mentioned but that wasn't the point. He is a real actor.

Corrie can produce actors with a serious acting career - Suranne Jones, Sarah Lancashire, Katherine Kelly are examples.

I suppose if they start in a soap at a young age, and stay for years possibly basically playing themselves, it must be difficult to carve a decent career away from that soap. But others can use it as a step on the way to more varied roles.

..... and he plays the same character in every role he does.

of course i dont have 24/7 acces, neither does those who think hes playing a role.... THAT was the point i was making... d'uh!

do you know what 'fake' means?... have you never met an excitable young man before? the point is that he acts like that in real life, so how can that be 'fake'?... nah, thats a ridiculous, lazy , cliche term idiots use.

exactly!

no.... it means ive offered a reasoned explaination as to why i hold the views i do. ive done that, it clearly explains his actions, ive explained that i, and others i knew, have acted in that manner. ive also highlighted the fact that in other roles and in real life interviews he comes across in exactly the same way.

now IF he didnt act like he does in the jungle, in reali life/other roles - id agree hes 'putting it on'.. but seriously, hes not that good an actor and he isnt all that bright.

now if you can support your daft claim that 'he is fake' with a reasoned argument that can counter my point...please do... but i suspect all you are doing is trying to justify the idiotic 'hes fake' claim with absolutely nothing to support it.
We've already supported our argument. You can keep calling us idiots all you want , which merely highlights your lack of credibility on a forum open to discussion. Unfortunately, there's a handful like you on here who cannot post without getting personal. You've proven naff all.

I was beginning t think they were an awfully nice bunch of people but Adam is an exception. He's too loud and reactionary. He also has a perpetual grin ...I'm always wary of perpetual grinners. He shrieks like a banshee and he's annoying.
Martin is just a me me.everything has to be about him. Not an attractive quality in a man of any age.
As he hasn't why not let that paranoia go?
Exactly this, I think Adam is great, having a good laugh with the lads, a wind up merchant but in a good way but really supportive to everybody when needed! It's just lads banter and I should know because I brought up 4 sons!
People need to see it for what it is, I don't think Adam is fake at all!
I agree. How sad that even positive people have to be condemned now.

Not true but if you think real actors can only exist in US films, not surprising. You said it didn't make him a real actor which of course it does and has nothing to do with future job prospects.
Is your opinion not rather shallow? There are an inestimable number of "unreal" actors if you're using two much older US film actors as "real actor" qualifying criteria. Do they all have to appear in US films whether they want to or not? Why?
How do you know someone much younger, he's only 28, without their many more years and consequent breadth of experience, is incapable of playing many characters? You don't know at all. You don't know he's only playing himself because you don't know him.
His character in Emmerdale is different to him in IAC and his characters have been different ages as he's grown up. He was 14 when he appeared in Doctors and only 21 when he left Waterloo Road. Each character was different, different to his role in Emmerdale and different to him in IAC. What are you basing your opinion on?

he's definitely a great actor, up there with Kingsley or Hoffman, for the first few trials he played a hysterical arachnophobe perfectly, now he has moved on to the James Bond audition, breezing through the trials with barely a hair out of place

Adam isnt a great actor which is why its easy to spot his fakery.

The phone box was brutak with the really bad attempt at crying, but also on the train he started hi early scared routine about spiders but then remembered his journey so stopped and breezed through it again.

Also no peep out of him when immunity was on the line for them trials too focused on winning to put on one of his bad performaces

Yes, I do know what fake is. The example I gave for example. He was not being an 'excitable young man' in this instance, he was pretending to cry, very badly. Speaking of idiots, some just won't see what is staring them in the face.
bib..... how can you actually prove that?... see, all i see in adam is an excitable young man, playing the fool sometimes, and acting in the jungle like he does in real life. 'pretending to cry' was having a laugh, larking about, thats exactly what 'excitable young men' do you know

nah.... nothing 'fake' there.

We've already supported our argument.
where?..... how?.... all you have said is that his behaviour in your opinion was fake... is that really evidence? no. the point i made, the explaination of why hes acting like he does completely destroys that half hearted opinion.

You can keep calling us idiots all you want , which merely highlights your lack of credibility on a forum open to discussion. Unfortunately, there's a handful like you on here who cannot post without getting personal. You've proven naff all.
yep... imho is an idiot who choses to persist with a viewpoint that has been roundly discredited, explained, reasoned away.

i have made a series of reasoned , rational, points as to why his is not 'fake' or 'putting it on' , you have not offered anything similar counter to those points.

ill repeat this, because its at the crux of this point..... i would agree with you, IF, in real life he acted completely differently, that would be evidence that in the jungle he was deliberately acting up, ..... but he doesnt. he really isnt bright enough, nor talented enough to create and maintain a false character. what you see is what you get.

s
ridiculous.

by that logic the others could be great actors, so great you cant spot their fakery. therefore who really is being real? youll never know, because theyve been so good at acting youll never spot it.

Jesus! Have you actually watched it? He was not larking around in that bit. I haven't made any comment about him larking around being fake or not. I have commented on his attempt at fake crying in the telephone box. It was very, very fake.

that was entirely in line with him larking about, it all part of his persona.

but lets take that 1 instance, lets just for arguments sake that that one instance was put on.... does that mean that everything else hes done was 'fake'? see, even if that was fakery, it doesnt mean everything hes done is 'fake', it doesnt mean he is 'fake' .

im not going to argue over whether one instance was real or false, that isnt the issue, the issue is 'is he putting it on' (or fake), the answer is clearly no.

Why much older Derek Jacobi 78, David Morrisey 52, Tom Hanks 60 and Dustin Hoffman 79? They can't possibly be compared to a 28 year old.
Why would a lot of them want to move on from soaps? They earn a good regular income, something most actors seek. What's to criticise about his acting and you have no idea what other roles he's capable of. Claiming he's the same in every role and he and most soap actors play themselves is another fallacy, unless you happen to know them all in real life.

There you go again, the answer isnt clearly no at all. It may be to you. As for this argument that he's not acting and he's the same as he is in the soap, absolutely ridiculous. So does he appear in every episode jumping about and OTT laughing. Do you know the guy? If not, your work is guess work, no different to the rest of us.

So we've established that his behaviour is consistent with how he acts in a soap. He may be a very good actor (I've never seen him in the soap), so he will know how to act to achieve certain effects.

Does that make him a fake?

I dont care if hes fake or not. Him and Martin are the only two with a bit of life about them, yhe rest are in the doldrums. And if he didnt do something it would be the Scarlet show.

I can see him getting my votes to win if Carol ans Martin go.
I don't think his spider fear was/is faked. He's also incredibly competitive so it's not a stretch to believe that familiarity has, over time and exposure, bred some degree of contempt as far as his spider fear goes.

He can be annoying at times and I've gone back and forth on him, but his constant good nature and ability to stay mellow in the face of whatever's thrown at him is winning.

If he ends up as King, he'll deserve it.
