Apologies if I am stepping on anyone's toes by starting this thread, but I had a search of the forum and couldn't find anything.....

Anyway, I wondered what your favourite Christmas Number 1 is, and what you predict will be Number 1 for 2016

It'll probably be this year's X Factor winner 😴 I can't think of a favourite Christmas No 1 offhand. I would have to look at a list of them.

Mad World by Gary Jules is my favourite. It was probably the last time we had a surprising Christmas no.1 as well? This year's Christmas no.1 will probably be the X Factor winner or some naff charity song.

I honestly wouldn't surprised if Mariah Carey finally topped the UK charts with All I Want For Christmas Is You.

It's already top 100 on iTunes and Spotify, and this is only going to climb further and further the closer we get to Christmas.

I would love to see Bowie and Bing at number 1 this year.

X Factor winner, probably Matt, with an Ed Sheeran song will be No.1 this year.

I'm betting it'll be that worthy but dull charidee record that no-one will listen to, but everyone will buy to feel good about themselves.

One of my favourites is When a child is born by Johnny Mathis. It's always something pretty naff these days. There seems to be a real lack of good new Christmas songs these days.

I doubt it, but it will re-enter the Top 20 of the proper charts, along with the Pogues/Kirsty with Fairytale Of New York (which I always found overrated); they always do

Wham, Wizzard, Slade and Shakin' Stevens will also probably feature in the Top 40

My favourite Xmas Number 1: Always On My Mind - Pet Shop Boys

This year's Number 1: Either the X Factor winner or an equally average charity song

I am hoping this one gets to #1 as I know the band and also the band whos song they have covered. Done for the MS Society and with the backing of the group Tyketto (featuring Chris Childs of Thunder), The King Lot have released their version of "Wings". Give it a listen, you may just like it and apparently it is the favourite so far

Mr Blobby just because it was a sort of giving the finger gesture to the pop industry. 1993 btw.

As for now.. I've zero interest in who gets it.

See that a group on FB - https://www.facebook.com/QueenCrimboNo1/ has set up to get Queens final song with Freddie to number 1 this year; nice touch seen as it is 25 years since his passing

While that was surprising, I honestly think that RATM was the nicest surprise getting to number one, thanks to a campaign against a chipmunk on helium singing a Miley Cyrus song.

Okay folks it'll be the homeless choir's charity single The Living Years. Not a bad version and features Paul Carrack who sang the original

Hospice choir, but yes another worthwhile cause.

The Hospice Choir for me - Yes, it's a charity record but it goes to a good cause and I reckon a lot of people will get behind it.

Frankly, I'd rather have the X Factor winners single at Christmas No1 than ANOTHER dreary, depressing one-hit-wonder choir "charity" song that spends only one short week at #1.

So for me, it would be anything but another dull and outdated choir song, that genre is so irrelevant in 2016.

You know something, it might be dull & dreary, but personally I prefer that over the dance boom boom, r'n'b bollocks that bombards the airways & music television.

Also a lot of these Hospices do not get the the high amount of government funding, Ad time, bothering people in the street like charities supporting third world countries. They rely on public donations & if by releasing a charity song at Xmas & getting it to No 1, instead of some reality TV winner, then I am all for it.
