I have just been looking at the BBC Radio 2 schedules to find out what year is on Pick of the Pops on Saturday December 3rd and have seen that this Saturday November 26th, not only do we have Dale Winton sitting in for Lisa Turbuck but there is also Tim Rice sitting in for Brian on Sounds of the 60s so is Brian unwell and will he be back?.

Maybe he's just on holiday. Let's not assume the worst....

This explains why Brian didn't sign off last weekend with his usual 'that's your lot for this week - see you next week'.

Doesn't he pre-record his shows though? Surely he'd just record two together.

An interesting choice of cover, Tim is very knowledgable and I'm a little surprised that Johnnie Walker isn't standing in for just one week.

Dale back on Radio 2 as well, Liza was unwell last Saturday so hope she's OK.
I notice she's on Tipping Point on Saturday at 6pm on ITV

Tipping Point probably recorded months ago.

Indeed, just mentioned it as recently Claudia Winkleman's show was moved so her radio show didn't clash with her Strictly shows on a Sunday.

I was just thinking that maybe this is why Liza isn't on is week so her radio show isn't clashing with her on TV

Tim Rice on 10th Dec too. Maybe Brian's ill. Wonder if they're trying out Tim as a possible future permanent replacement.

Three weeks? I thought Tim Rice surely covers musical shows like Elaine Page?

I think Tim presented Capital's All Time top 100 in 1974. He certainly did a superb double header with Gambo on Radio one in the eighties with each picking favourite UK/US records of each year. More recently documentaries and series such as American Pie.

Tim did start the show, saying he in for a few week as Brian was "under the weather". I hope he ok, the show is not same without him.

Sadly at Brian's age it's inevitable that he's going to get sick from time to time.
I just hope it's nothing too serious.

Get well soon.

I usually like Tim as a broadcaster but today there was no spontaneity and all the links were clearly read out. The contrast shows what a great broadcaster Brian is. Hope he gets better quickly.

Agreed. Thought Tim Rice sounded mechanical and missing the depth of knowledge that Brian Matthew usually endows the show with.
