I couldn't agree more with this post that completely demolishes the idea that Sounds of the Sixties should be moved. The last thing we need is someone playing Adele, Olly Murs etc while reading out inane texts. PIck of the Pops was ruined with that nonesense.

I very much doubt if the people who want to change SOTS ever listen to the show. Loyal listeners have supported Brian since 1990 because it is quality radio, something that can't be said about much of the rest of the Radio 2 daytime output.
Some people may want to hear Olly Murs and Adele. I personally like music from 60s, 70's and 80's. They could have Tony Blackburn is this slot with music of his choice followed by The Golden Hour after 09.00.

And there's already load of places on the dial they can go and do that....

SoS is one the Radio 2's (ever diminishing) USPs

Why does it have to be Tony Blackburn?h

If you want to listen to Olly Murs and Adele you can listen to Heart.

SOTS Has four million listeners. It is not going anywhere.

I wondered where Brian has been these past few weeks...

I don't listen to SOTS all the way through (usually waiting for Graham Norton's show) but I quite like Tim's choices in the last few weeks.

But the producer chooses the music, and Tim Rice is simply reading the same script that Brian Matthew would have done!

Ah, right! Just a coincidence that I seemed to prefer the music. My ears pricked up towards the end of today's broadcast when prog rock got a mention.
