Danny has always got on well with people like Scarlett. Last year he was over the moon that Vicky won because he said it showed that working glass girls are often demonised and put down as thick, but they're as capable and intelligent as anyone else.
Scarlett is lovely and Danny has said for years that he thinks she's the best bit of Gogglebox. They have a similar sense of humour and come from similar working class roots, which is probably part of it.

Erm, you do realise Danny has said he's retiring completely from entertainment on his 60th Birthday, right? He's been in the business for nearly 45 years and he said he's doing I'm A Celebrity as a one last ride sort of thing.
He'll still give it 100% but I don't think he'd have a problem if someone else won, as long as it wasn't Martin.
He knows who's getting the most airtime - Scarlett. He enjoys attention, even if he's said he's giving up showbiz.
To be fair it's understandable and you can't really begrudge him for doing it.
While the odds are now becoming more interesting, when Danny and Martin went into the camp it looked like Chosen One was going to run away with it.
If you're in there for the ride you may as well attach yourself to the favourite. Interesting how he's barely been shown to interact with Carol since they were in the yellow dream team. Maybe they're not as big pals as they were letting on?

Well it's common knowledge that he's always been an arse guy so I'm not surprised. Really loving him on the show though but disappointed neither him or Scarlett appeared much tonight

How many celebs have said that they will retire and yet they always seem to get talked into doing something. He will defo do a few interviews for sure, for a few bob..no doubt about that.

Danny Baker definitely has the air of someone who had seen mortality very close up and decided to spend as little time as possible being angry, resentful or miserable and clearly likes to be close to people with a similar outlook. Good for him.
I'm not familiar with his work apart from the serialisation of his early life starring Peter Kay as his dad, which was excellent and a great surprise - who knew Peter Kay could get away with "doing" a London accent - AND, years ago, his presenting and commentating on amateur Sunday football from - I think - Hackney Marshes, which was brilliant. I have no interest in any sport and never watch it (apart from the World Cup the year we won and watching Arthur Ashe win Wimbledon decades ago) but absolutely LOVED Danny's amateur football show. Pity it only had one series.

You're completely right - Danny has been through the dark, come out of the other side and is very much a changed man I think. He's never minced his words but he has very little time for people who are manipulative and deceiving. He'd rather just get on with things and get through things quietly. Danny has always had a cheery outlook on life and so does Scarlett, which I think is why they get on. Plus, Scarlett's dad had a very bad time with cancer like Danny and I imagine there's a bit of a connection there too. Plus, let's be honest, I bet Danny admires the fact that Scarlett paid off her mum and dad's mortgage with her earnings - what a selfless thing to do.

It would be more selfless if she didn't broadcast it to the nation. Plus, I think anyone who has made a considerable amount of money would help their family. I would, you would too I'm sure.

He might know who was getting most airtime from the couple of days before he and Martin went in, but is it really beyond the realms of possibility that spending 24 hours a day with the rest of the campmates, he's just finding Scarlett a really nice girl?
As annoying as it is that some campmates get more airtime than others, Scarlett does seem a nice sweet young lady and quite funny.

I reckon there's lots of tasty anecdotes and random observations from Danny that are not being broadcast.
I agree that he'd naturally connect to Scarlett - an underdog with ambitions.
I think he would like to win - but is not putting all his eggs into that partlcular unrealistic basket.
I also agree he seems to have turned a corner and is putting funds together to semi-retire. No more constraints of management handcuffs, just writing and perhaps some independent podcasts.

I don't think he's any different since the cancer than before, he was always positive and cheery and could bunny rabbit for England
