Fake news online websites
This curious story was on Channel 4 news tonight about people starting online news websites publishing fake stories. Most of them apparently come from Macedonia of all places so that's where the reporter went to speak to people, some of which were not very happy answering questions!
Needless to say there can be quite a lot of money to be made from them. https://www.channel4.com/news/fake-n...ng-the-stories |

It's not just fake news or political sites with strong bias that are a problem. I find that if I search for official news clips on YouTube for say a terrorist or lone wolf attack in the West, a couple of weeks or so after the event, half the search results are videos by conspiracy nuts claiming that the event was faked and that the "victims" are crisis actors etc.. and the mainstream media are in on it.
Quite frankly I'm fed up of it! I'm all for free speech but I don't see why legitimate news clips should get crowded out by opinion pieces that most people don't want to watch. And let's face it, guys like Alex Jones don't believe all the stuff they spout. They're in it for the views and related ad money. But I see no changes. And what about the rest of social media that's getting plagued by this nonsense? The site owners need to do something about it!! |

It's not fake news , it's entertainment.

Everywhere is plagued by this (fake news) nonsense and all the power nations are as much purveyors as are the nuts in their cellars. Half of the important stuff that I read nowadays requires at least two MSM angles and a fact/source check before taking at face value and/or forming a fair opinion.

I looked at the BBC link you put up. UK Politics and Ken Clarke is about an MP stating an opinion. He said the same on a Politics programme yesterday so that's been heard by anyone watching. The stabbing is factual unless you believe the police have been photoshopped into the photograph and everything else has been made up? Cairo cathedral blast has been reported on most news media. Liverpool and West Ham FC result published. Did the game not happen? Has the score been faked? |

I do despair at anyone who reads and takes fake news stories at face value. Before the Internet era I can see how it might happen but now???? Google is your friend and a quick double check of the facts will show what is real and what is fake.
