All a matter of opinions, but for me Boycott is still one of the best broadcasters in the sport. Even at 76 his enthusiasm for sport is infectious and it always seems as though it is a pleasure for him to be working on tours - not a right or a holiday - particularly for the BBC.
He eats & drinks cricket for sure. But I found that half hour after lunch on day 1 nauseating, we had Jennings batting on hi debut and our best player (Root) at the crease. All he could go on about was a partnership he & ted dexter shared in 1964. It had absolutely no relevance to the situation.

He also went on at length England having two wicketkeepers in the side in the 1976-7 tour of India - one in which he did not participate in.

Henry Blofeld though now seems a shadow of the commentator he used to be; his delivery is now so slow, awkward and hesitant, especially when identifying players. I found it quite shocking as it seems quite a sudden deterioration.

Blofeld is shite, and has been for years so cannot agree its a sudden deterioration...

as for the 76-7 tour of India my all time hero scored his final century for England on that tour but within 7 months had been dropped for the return of Sir Geoffrey...

That was indeed. Became my hero when I was 10 in 1974 and in 86 I was lucky enough to go on a cricket cruise Holiday where Dennis, chris Cowdrey Tom Graveney and Jim Swanton were the cricket celebs which was organised by Chris Martin Jenkins. we played teams in Gibraltar and Corfu. best time of my life.. Had about half an hour one day where there was just me "bowling" to Dennis whilst the ship was in dock in Naples-WONDERFUL MEMORIES..........

Well either I haven't listened to him properly for years or he was really bad that day. Have to say he was never a favourite of mine.

I can remember watching him in the late 1970s reporting on a game from Grace Road in those days for the sports report on Radio 2. He'd go into a small booth on the top of the members pavilion every half an hour for a few minutes but spend the rest of the time outside on a deck chair drinking steadily through a bottle of wine. Good work I suppose if you can get it.

Suppose it comes down to likes and dislikes but Blofeld IMHO is a liability commenting and is only there so the BBC can claim they don't get rid of people simply because of age. Well Mr Adam Mountford Producer of TMS sack the old buggar now. He is quite simply past it

Ashes schedule announced. With a confirmed D/N test match.
BT will be very happy with that.

I notice that the t20 tri series is being held in Australia and New Zealand does this mean that half of the t20 series will be on Sky as they have the rights to cricket in New Zealand?

I guess all matches played in New Zealand will be on Sky as they have the rights until 2020.

Yep, gives them two tests (Adelaide & Perth) where the timing of last session should attract a decent audience at breakfast

I'd be surprised if that happens. Surely it all comes under the Cricket Australia broadcast deal?

Yeah it’ll all be shown by the broadcaster of whoever the host board is. Given the press release, it looks to be Cricket Australia, so it’ll be on BT here. I’d be astonished if it was split between BT and Sky, as that process would mean it is split across Nine and Fox Sports in Australia, which is bizarre.

Why is the venue for the Perth test match "to be confirmed"? Surely its at the WACA given the new stadium isnt scheduled to open until three months afterwards?

They are ahead of schedule and they think if they continue at this rate they will be ready

Suppose it wont be a bad event to officially open the stadium. Cant exactly start selling tickets for it until they know for sure, though.

You'll probably right and I doubt Sky or BT would want to share this series anyway.

I think cricket got a total of 30 seconds on BBC sports personality of the year. Has to be an all time low.

No it had more than most years actually...even the county championship got a clip shown!!

Boxing day will have the south africa test, aussie test and TWO channels showing the big bash. How many times have 4 different broadcasters been showing cricket at the same time?!

The Times reporting that Mark Pougatch will host Big Bash on C5.

He will be joined by guests including Michael Vaughan, James Anderson and Michael Carberry.

They didn't for the ladies matches last week; took Ten's coverage (and not the World feed - as one of the commentators mentioned her pitch report that was done for the World feed)
