No it had more than most years actually...even the county championship got a clip shown!!

Boxing day will have the south africa test, aussie test and TWO channels showing the big bash. How many times have 4 different broadcasters been showing cricket at the same time?!
Three isn't it? BT have Big Bash and Aus test. SA are on Sky and other BB game on C5.

Sky presented coverage from a corridor last year, so this doesn't feel like a big problem (although I wasn't able to watch this morning so I don't really have anything to say about the quality of Ten's full coverage).

C5's Big Bash Coverage being hosted by Mark Pougatch alongside James Taylor and Michael Carberry from BT Sport's studios in Stratford... which will be handy for Mark's commute to his afternoon gig of presenting BT Sport Score.

Meanwhile, BT Sport are taking the Network Ten presentation as per earlier matches.

Michael Holding is commentating for Supersport in South Africa again this morning. Hopefully he'll still be commentating again for Sky in the summer as it was rumoured he may be quitting after last summer.

Mark Nicholas was taken to hospital post-Lunch interval with abdominal pains, Channel Nine said he's recovering well

https://www.theguardian.com/sport/20...oxing-day-test

Was a nice get well mention for him from Mark Howard during Ten's Big Bash coverage too

Nice to see Carberry back. I take it his health is doing well now

Did sky show any highlights of day 1 of SA v SL yesterday? The midnight showing was replaced by repeats of some F1 stuff. Were they on earlier at all?

Not a cricket question but watching and reading that have Sky lost the PGA Championship golf to BT ? As they say we have the majors in golf but then only list Masters, Open and US Open.

Given it's T20 then it's only a 3.5 to 4 hour slot. Also will they be playing these standalone in the evening ? or as double headers before the men's T20. If that's the case then most games would be daytime and if Sky broadcast both games they already have the cameras and crew / commentators at the ground so could easily do both games live. There is also less competition for daytime hours on Sky as it's only usually golf and the occasional tennis mid week.

Have posted about this on the Sports Commentators Thread.

The position appears unclear - Sky's contract definitely expired in 2016 but no announcement has yet been made re who has won the rights from 2017 onwards.

Some Sky promos (in particular their Golf promo) say they have all 4 majors but others just say "majors" and list the other three - as you state.

My view is that the Golf promo is wrong and that the rights have not been awarded to anyone yet.

some of the womens sides are not like for like with the men. Some of them play at grounds with no traditional tv broadcast facilities

Sure they could televise the womens game outside of peak hours but would either side want that in day time with empty grounds?

Presumably they won't be billing those as part of a double-header then! I think the point the previous poster was making was for games where they were already televising the mens game and there was a women's game on beforehand...

Seems to be exactly what happens with the Big Bash games - just been watching the highlights of the women's game between Adelaide Strikers and Perth Scorchers (as I played a couple of games with the Scorchers' Chloe Piparo last year) and there doesn't seem to be much of a crowd at all.

That's exactly what I meant. Sky can fill their quota of broadcast Women's games by making some of the Men's T20s double headers with the women playing first. Then make the tickets cover both games so some of the crowd will come early to watch the women as well.

You are correct that is what they are doing with the women's BBL as only some are live on Ten although it says all are filmed, but the non televised ones are Facebook video streams. Have you seen any of these ? Do they have full commentary and cameras or a cut down broadcast as Notts do with their live streaming.

Just about to watch the Big Bash cricket on 5, although it feels like they're playing a big bash game in my head at the moment!

The non-televised WBBL games do have commentary and a few camera setup

It's said that for ages and it's wrong.

Sky Sports 10 year contract expired 2016:

http://www.campaignlive.co.uk/articl...a-championship

PGA of America agreement with IMG to distribute international rights for 2017 to 2021:

http://www.pga.com/news/pga/img-exte...nt-pga-america

Wiki is completely hopeless - for a long time it had the wrong expiry date on the US Open rights as well - though that has now been corrected (2019). There is also still a blindingly obvious error on the ATP World Tour Finals - that's been wrong for years I think.

I did think that if it was a new deal it was a bit short.
