Why doesn't Whitney work?
There was literally a scene where Lauren said that she desperately needed a childminder because she wanted more days at work, and Whitney just sat there. Whitney is a qualified nursery nurse, and does nothing - any reason she can't look after the child??

I think that because of the miscarriage she probably doesn't want to. What I think the producers are trying to do is stop Whitney doing the bleeding obvious when she and Lee have glaring (to us) financial problems and get some extra income.
It doesn't really matter that she's a trained nursery nurse. Many trust their kids with random people on the square who have no qualifications including a woman who ran off with another woman's baby. |

She works "evenings" in The Vic, as mentioned in an episode earlier this week.
I know it's all part of a bigger storyline to come, it's just frustrating to watch! |

She works full time shifts in the Vic. The Carters are her family now and she owes them a lot. Besides they want Stacey to be looking after Max's grandchild in time for his return.😉

When Lee leaves, I hope someone else will move in with Whitney in the flat because she won't be able to afford it on her own. |

I thought she worked full-time but it's evidently clear she works part-time (she spends too much time in the flat and in the Square) and I understand why she has been pestering Lee to get the flat and the luxury things etc as she is not earning much money.

But why? If there's the two of you who are married or in a relationship with each other, it can work. Not lived in a bedsit with a partner so couldn't really give my own experience.

That's what I meant. It's fine if you're on your own or in a romantic relationship but if you're just trying to get a roommate to move in, it's very difficult in a studio flat. So if Whitney is going to stay there once Lee has gone, she'll need to either pay for it herself (which shouldn't unreasonable at £750 a month but she might need to step up her hours) or get into another romantic relationship fairly sharpish.
I agree that with Whitney contributing, she could alleviate the pressure on Lee who could then leave the commission based call centre job and try to get a regular if lowly paid admin job in central London or Essex.

Sorry elly, my misunderstanding.
I agree that with Whitney contributing, she could alleviate the pressure on Lee who could then leave the commission based call centre job and try to get a regular if lowly paid admin job in central London or Essex. The issue is that Lee needs to be honest with her. At the moment she sees no reason to worry and is probably spending the majority of her wages on new stuff for the flat and not on the bills. And of course Lee's situation is bad because he's having to pay back the loan as well as the costs associated with the flat. It's all going to go very wrong, very soon.

What I don't want to see is Shirl getting involved at going down the call centre to sort out Oz and the supervisor and at some point last week, I thought that would happen. As much as it's bullying in the workplace, it adds to the storyline to see more of the workings of that place.
Call centres are grim places to work, I used to work in one years ago. They're managed by little Hitlers who watch every second on their watches and there's no deviation allowed, it's about SLAs and targets. Get plied with sweets, cakes and crisps from the local Asda to keep the troops notivated by staff just leave because of the uneducated dullards who by default have been around so long they progress to still low paid supervisor positions. Sorry, rant over. |

It can't be long. He pulled another sickie yesterday which his boss is likely to be highly suspicious of even if he can't prove anything. It certainly won't do him any favours and with nothing to suggest he's edging up that leader board, it would seem likely that he'll be let go before Christmas.
Has he still got the car that Mick bought him? Surely in another company he would have got kicked out. He's essentially working in a job he hates for free. That's about 37.5 hours a week he's getting no money. He needs a good shake or "ed needs a wobble." |

This is what really gets on my t**s about Whitney she expects so much from Lee - pay for the wedding, get a flat and her contribution is a few poxy evening shifts in his parents pub. Get off your ass Whitney and get yourself a full time job it's 2016.
They live in a few rooms on top of the Vic, not in a palatial manor in Epping or Woodford. |

I really can't understand why he's still in a job. He's been in the bottom three of the league table for weeks now, has got no sales, pulled a sicky when he got married for which he got found out and kicked off on the floor.

Oz is obviously an overconfident, lairy so and so and Lee just needs to confront him round the back of the office and give him a kicking. That will put him in his place and get Lee much needed confidence back. He's a strong lad who's been in the armed forces and if he gets some well placed aggression back that will do him a power of good Either that or use some wit and intelligence which I doubt Lee has.
