Isn't that a bit stupid? I know everyone knows that it's probably the producers picking the songs anyway but why would you even make a theme where a mentor can supposedly pick songs for people not in his category? Surely that defeats the purpose of it being a competition?

If this was a legit rule, what's to stop Louis giving other acts shockingly bad song choices and giving 5AM amazing ones?

I know it's not really an issue, but it's like they don't even try and pretend that it's all scripted and rigged these days. The mentors are supposed to be competing and it's supposed to be serious for them, you don't just randomly give one of them power over the rest of the competition just for a theme....

supposedly the producers have a list of songs he likes and they have decided who sings what as usual, in reality i doubt even that happened and the producers just picked songs from the list of what they would normally use and louis will pretend they are his "favourites"

its the most stupidest themes ever. I actually thought it was put in the jukebox as a joke and would never have been actually selected.

I am sceptical about how much Louis actually 'loves' any of the songs that are actually picked. 5 After Midnight's song will probably be the only song he genuinely loves [poor them] and all the other songs the judges will pick and Louis will just do some crap acting tonight pretending that every song is his favourite song ever

Put it this way, do you really think Simon would let louis has total power of what Emily sings tonight??

I remember Louis appearing on Top Gear years ago in their Star in the reasonably priced car segment and Clarkson asked him if he genuinely liked music from X Factor and he said no, it was more Simon's style and he preferred more classic rock himself. I tried to find the interview on Youtube, but I could only find the video from his lap around the track.
