On my iPhone 7 I only seem to receive iMessage from fellow iPhone users even though I've sent them a text message. Never recieve any text messages. Is there anyway to resolve this
Thanks

If the other party is sending as an iMessage and you have an iPhone you are going to receive it as an iMessage, I'm not sure where you think the problem is...

Yes that's fine if I have wifi or data but if I don't surely it should be sent as a text? I don't get it as a text I have to turn data on or wait til I get wifi then get it as a iMessage

Turn off iMessage in the Messages settings (Settings > Messages)

Try turning FaceTime off too.

If that doesn't work then enter your phone number here to disable iMessage from Apple's side.

It takes a while to register. Eventually, people with iPhones will send texts instead of iMessage.

If you are using an iPhone and have no access to data you are wasting your time and money though. Most apps are designed to be connected online.

This could be down to the settings on the sender's phone. If they have "Send as SMS when iMessage is unavailable" turned off, you'll not get the message as a text.

If an iMessage hasn't delivered in around 5 minutes, it'll be sent as a text if the sender has the aforementioned setting ON.

That's only relevant if the receiving phone is using iMessage. If the receiving number is not registered on iMessage then it's sent as SMS / MMS regardless of any other settings.

There have been cases where iMessage gets stuck on for a phone number on Apple's side even though no longer in use on the device. The de-registration link I posted above provides a way to manually switch off iMessage for a phone number directly on Apple's systems.

If you long press a message is the option still present to send as SMS?

My wife's iPhone has iMessage turned on as she communicates with some friends via this, where as I've got unlimited texts so ive no need to use iMessage unless I've got no signal which is extremely rare. So my iMessage is turned off, but when my wife's messages me it comes to me as a normal text not an imessage. So really all you should need to do is turn off iMessage in the settings(I know you've already done that). Not sure why you still only get them as an iMessage.

You could go onto apple website and ask on their online chat or just phone them.
