Last year, for example a thread discussing the 'baby kicking' incident started by an OP who was ridiculously offended by what Jay had said was then countered by many of us defending and explaining his actions. Anyway it evolved into one of the funniest, most lighthearted and genuinely fun threads for ages with all posters genuinely being respectful, one I looked forward to reading. A day later it was dead- a victim of the 'report - then moderation hasn't got time to deal with every petty whine so deletes everything' system.”

Yes - that thread was a lot of fun. No great surprise when it was reported and pulled.

All over DS the active posting is declining which is I think due to the rise of twitter and Facebook. Shame really as I think that there's still a place for more in depth and precise discussion of TV and other subjects.

Massively agree with this. I got bloody persecuted Abbey Clancy year - followed round the board by a group of nutters and banned twice.

I hadn't been banned EVER before that and I've made a lot of posts.

It soured it all a bit.

For me personally I have been put off posting at times this year . Mainly due to smart aleky know it all posters .
Bit of a shame as we used to have some great craic on threads like " The Norty Step " where everyone was welcome

Who also chuck out insults and then whinge and moan when they get it back. But it's all good and would never put me off because it doesn't really matter that much.

Don't misunderstand I take note of those with experience (even if I disagree) such as SofaKat, Jennifer F, Bendymixer to name a few but some really rate themselves.

That said there are posters here I can disagree with one hour and then love a post they make the next.

I guess we should just let it all go whoosh over our heads ! But sometimes the passive aggressive posts make me log out if I am honest

This has been the worst year for 'horrible threads where some posters are just plain nasty to pros and celebs alike. Never seen it this bad over the years. At times I can't be bothered to post. Really can't understand some of the posts lately, so rude and at times to people who have given us help and info in previous years. We all get fed up at times with the show, but there must be a nicer way to vent our feelings. I have had a few moans but have always tried to be polite etc.
Perhaps we will have to make a New Year's Resolution to be nicer next year, That's if we all turn up and take part

No they don't and it's not fair, everyone knows thingy is the best dancer, but the public don't like their partner, they always get really really crap music, I mean, who does a rumba to Itsy Bitsy Teeny Weeny Yellow Polka Dot Bikini. The judges pick on Thingy all the time it's not their fault they fell over in the Charleston..... twice. It was a great dance. I mean really original basing it on The Lizzie Borden rhyme.

It's so not fair.

I'm not sure we could rely on Ed to Put His Right Leg In at the correct time.
Left leg, yes.
But he most certainly could Shake It All About.

If someone is having a problem with a poster, then they should remember that it is highly likely that others are having the same problem. It shouldn't stop them from posting or conversely make them think they have to defend themselves to the death.

I don't think the forum is over moderated, but I do think there are some limitations on what is achievable through moderation. People can still post against the spirit of the forum rules without it being obvious they have done so.

However, I do think the forum is pretty boring at the moment. I'm really enjoying this series though and so I don't think it is down to the celebs and pros. I don't feel manipulated by TPTB either. The problem is indefinable. Maybe it is the case that some of our more interesting posters have left the forum for Twitter.

Also massively agree with these two.

Also true, this board is dancing on glittery rainbows in comparison to other years and in comparison to the old BBC Message Boards, it's a fluffy scarf and gloves accompanied by a warm cup of cocoa laced with marshmallows and chocolate sprinkles.”

I was there and yeah that place was vicious on occasion.

I'm on my way round, either house will do but I prefer the selection from no 2. If it weren't for my wife, I'd be pi55ed before the end of every SCD.

And crap costumes. The trousers falling down was so not their fault, and their partner, Whatsit, shouldn't have put that swinging from the chandeliers in, wasn't their fault they landed on Len's seven. But it did make that Rumba interesting, the restrictive movement caused by the seven paddle injury

It used to be that the entertainment came from the mix of characters on the show. People seemed to have just been picked randomly, and over the course of the show revealed their personality - desperate, drippy, batshit, egotistcal or just funny and genuinely nice. Now every series has got to have predefined sorts of characters - the comedy one, the pretty one, the girly one, the fun-fun-fun one, the useless but plucky trier one. There's nothing to watch develop, and that was where part of the fun and the arguments came from.

I thought it was just me.The forum just hasn't got off the ground this year has it?Just like the show which is showing its age and getting jaded.

I'm loving the show this year and have got behind quite a few of the celebs. I agree at poor music choices and outfits continue and increase. I'm fed up with the judges too. I find the forum uninteresting at times. There are quite a few forumites I like who still post, but not very often. There are others whose absence is notable.

I'm actually enjoying the series a lot so far, though I understand what people mean by it being a bit of a come down.

My only real gripe at the moment is Danny being too good, but then I am a contrarian through-and-through

I feel that a lot of the same people who supported Jay are supporting Danny and, just like last year, they'll win, but they don't really like Danny as much as they ❤️'d Jay, and it's hard to care as much a second year in any case. If the likely victors -- in my groundless theory -- are finding it flat and stale, the rest of us have no chance
