Looks like this could become another Savile affair with more and more footballers coming out each day as the story unfolds:

Saw an interview with Paul Stewart on 'This Morning'. He said that his addictions were as a result of trying to block out what was done to him.

Barry Bennell is pictured here with Stewart and Gazza:

I wonder if Gascoignes addiction to drinking is because he was abused too?

There was a programme on Radio 4 earlier this week that said that boys/men who have been abused by other men fear being tainted by homosexuality:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b082vys4 it's from about 0:25

Wasn't Gazza always keen to point out that (sic) he was "not a pufta"??

I hope not but none of us saw these guys coming forward. It would be a terible shame if it did turn out he was abused.

Major credit for these guys to come forward though. Must have taken alot of thinking and sleepness nights.

This is starting to remind me of the Joe Paterno case in America.

Indeed.

Four footballers who had been abused were on this mornings Victoria Derbyshire programme. One, Steve Walters, said that he wondered if what happened to him meant he was gay and this had prevented him forming close relationships with other men, so this indicates that this fear could be true.

It's the first subject to be discussed if anyone wants to watch it:

I've not seen any evidence of a manager covering it up which is what Joe Paterno did. That case also involved one coach whereas there have been allegations against more than one coach made to police.

Hi

Whilst the developing story of this is something that can be discussed, speculating on potential victims isn't something we want to encourage. Unless anyone speaks out themselves we will most likely be closing threads that do this.
