I'm super excited about Toyah's hotly anticipated return to the cobbles this Christmas. Along with a few other others on here, I believe that she has secretly become involved in a relationship with Peter Barlow. Reading the Christmas spoilers article has added a lot more weight to those beliefs: it says that Peter's secret involves a woman, he is caught wrapping a Christmas present for said woman and is overheard booking a hotel room for them. A few weeks ago, Georgia Taylor filmed her Christmas Day return scenes at a hotel- coincidence? It was also said some time back that Nick's paranoia will be in overdrive over the festive period- does he overhear the conversation that Peter has and assumes that Leanne is his mystery woman? When Toyah's return was announced, it was also said that she has another agenda entirely for coming back- surely this is referring to Peter?

I also saw interview a few weeks back (I think it was GMB) with Chris Gascoyne, he was asked about Peter's new girlfriend and he said viewers 'knew her from before', which for me pretty much confirmed it for me (unless it's Rosie, which is highly unlikely). I wonder how Leanne feels, what with her sister shacking up with her ex-husband

OMG how tedious...Peter Barlow, woman, secret...yawwwn.

I suspect you are 100% spot on but it's a shame that a great character has to return via such a hackneyed storyline.

Interesting. It's just as well Nick got on that bus when he did as Leanne set off for a new life with Toyah!

If it is Toyah that will be the second time one of Leanne's sisters has dated one of Leanne's ex-husbands, Eva with Nick and now Toyah with Peter.

They didn't, well not to my knowledge anyway. I'm not sure it's Spider they're talking about, I remember a brief mention that they split up years ago or Toyah had a new partner (something along those lines).

Mind you, Toyah hasn't turned up to what must be 3 of Leanne's weddings despite only living in Liverpool.

Maybe it was Martin as he lives in Liverpool as well.

It might have been slightly more believable if they had her in Australia, which is still a stretch. Georgia Taylor did pretty well for herself after leaving the show, so I guess a return before now was never really feasible.

I have to admit that I'm not entirely convinced about Toyah going out with her sister's adulterous ex-husband, but we'll see how it plays out. I'm guessing that Peter's suspicious looking injury is due to a punch-up with Toyah's husband- who I'm guessing was the guy staring in through the Barlows' window last week. It makes perfect sense now.

She was BRILLIANT in Casualty!!

I stopped watching years ago but caught an episode during a spell in hospital 2008 when she was in it & was well & truly hooked again for a while!! Such a great actress!!
Can't help but think it must be a great s/l they're giving her to entice her back to Corrie, though she does still have mates there in Jane Danson, Samia & Jennie McAlpine!!

The one thing I'm looking forward to seeing is Eva and Toyah meeting for the first time.

Will Eva get jealous of Toyah and Leanne's sisterly relationship or will she be OK with it.

Yeah, I think it's once of those things that you have got accept. I remember reading an interview years ago that Georgia declined to return for Les and Cilla's wedding due to her schedule.

I agree about it being slightly unbelievable Toyah going out with Peter, your scenario makes perfect sense, I'm hoping there is more to Toyah's return than her getting it off with Peter Barlow as it's very much long awaited and I would hate for Leanne and Toyah to have a falling out after all these years I've not being on screen together.

I know Toyah wasn't around when Leanne was married to Peter but she must have heard all the stories of what an arse he was to Leanne during their marriage and they know who each other are as they were both on t'street during the early 2000s (when Leanne wasn't).

Maybe it will be the other way around - Leanne and Eva have become very close and they are blood relatives. Leanne and Toyah may have been brought up together but they're clearly not as close as they once were. Perhaps Toyah will be the one feeling pushed aside.

I must be the only person not looking forward to Toyah's return

Georgia Taylor really got on my nerves in 'Law & Order'

No you're not. I disliked her so much in Corrie I haven't watched anything else she was in.

Do you mean the characters or the show contacting Georgia Taylor?

*groan*

Sadly I was on the Toyah and Peter bandwagon and predicted that this would happen too.

It's just SO BORING.

SO, SO, SO BORING.

Toyah Battersby, one of Corrie's most iconic characters from recent years, returns to the show and this is the best that they can do?

SERIOUSLY?

Corrie is a ****ing joke.

Why are they driving a wedge between Leanne and Toyah, who always had a very close sisterly bond, even if they did have the odd spat here and there. Really, what is the point? I don't want to see them falling out and arguing over Peter just for the sake of an explosive storyline, I want to see them behaving as they always have done by supporting each other and generally getting on well. I don't want to see their family bond broken for the sake of a quick storyline, and least of all one centred around Peter Barlow.

What a stupid storyline this will be. Not just for Toyah but Peter too. I've enjoyed his return, I like the dynamics between him and the rest of the Barlows. It would have been nice to see how Peter copes with his continuing sobriety whilst holding his family together, and caring for Ken. Why does everything with Peter have to revolve around him being with an unsuitable female?? Chris is capable of so much more.

Precisely! It's boring for all the characters concerned.

There's so much more to Peter as a character and Chris as an actor than more relationship woes.

I agree and it's also been done before as well with a sister of Leanne's dating an ex-husband of hers when Eva dated Nick I don't want to see it happen again.
