Martin is really not that bad!
Ok I get he can be a bit of a prat sometimes but I find him quite funny and comical to watch. He's also a sweet guy, not like some of them who I think could be quite bitchy if they wanted to be. Ok yes he probably winds the campmates up but at least he's providing entertainment. What are the others doing? Even though they're all quite a nice bunch this year, they are abit boring to watch, except Martin! I wouldnt say the group are bullying him as such but I do think they can make him feel abit of an outcast at times and the way they look at each other and laugh. That can be hurtful.

Very fair OP. I think he's curmudgeonly more than anything. There doesn't seem to be an ounce of malice or badness in him. He's irritated by the food and finds lugging water up a hill hard work. Well that's fair enough, isn't it? It's just him being honest. A bit too honest if he goes on about it; but basically he's just speaking as he finds.
Not once has he bitched about anyone or been nasty. He's just an outsider and I think it was Danny who mainly forced that status on him. I think a lot of them, by the way, are quite fond of him. Joel, Lisa and Carol seem to like him a lot. |

He doesn't bother me and I think although he gives it out, he can take it back.
Clearly shown when he soaked Adam and then Adam ate the chocolate. It's just a bit of a banta to keep things interesting as I'm sure there long days |

I laughed at him with the cover over his head doing the trial with Carole he was away on his own , Im beginning to like him strangely. I really think he was overracting at the start as he hadnt watched the show much in the past and wasnt sure what was expected of him.........now Danny has handed it to him on a plate... love it.

He's a bit of a oddball rather than anything else. I don't think he's got an ounce of malice in him but he would annoy the hell out of me if I had to live with him

i find him to be very passive aggressive. The whole thing with having a revolt against the royals, he was fine with lording it over everyone when he was there but as soon as the shoe is on the other foot its unfair and they should protest

He's a complete tool, his family must be embarrassed, the sooner he goes the better.

![]() There's nothing 'passive' about it. It's incredibly direct. Everything about him is direct. He's the embodiment of the opposite of 'passive'. Neither is he aggressive.

Well I still think he's a charmless prat but he does, despite his charmless prattishness, have some comedy value.

![]() Larry's last comment was a beauty after Martin's incessant annoying and unfunny badgering about a revolt. Martin... "Do you not think they would think it was funny". Larry..... "No, because they've got a sense of humour" Spot on...

He is a warm hearted desent person, but he irritates me too much with his childishness. He reminds me of David Brent.

he pretends it's a fun thing to do when really he just wants to get to throw more water about, piss off the Royals, anything to get rid of his feeling of utter injustice that he has been made a peasant even after his heroic efforts at drinking critters
![]() it's like reading a tragic book ![]() Spot on. His transparency is actually quite comical!

Well he would probably enjoy it! He certainly enjoyed throwing water at Adam. There's nothing 'passive' about it. I really wish people would stop using buzz phrases to denigrate someone when the label doesn't fit at all.

It may not fit in this one example, but he absolutely has been passive aggressive at other times - during his solo trial when replying to Ant & Dec's comments, for example.

It certainly does not fit the example given; and I don't think it fits the one you're giving either, with respect. He snapped at them. There's nothing 'passive' about that. (They weren't exactly being supportive and helpful towards him either, mind)
I think he just lacks a lot of self awareness and is probably quite entitled. I do think he has learnt that to an extent by being in there, though, as Danny Baker touched on in his exit interview. |

I have to respectfully disagree. There was one point he snapped at them (he actually was interrupting Ant/Dec's advice, so I think they were supporting him to begin with). He said things like "thanks for that" with an obviously annoyed tone which I would certainly class as passive aggressive. Then when he was in the water bit at the end, he just talked a lot of nonsense.
