My husband just pointed out that they must have done something to stop the croc from opening its mouth. Hopefully, they take off whatever it is they put on its mouth.

The crocs usually have a band or tape round their mouth.

It,s strange, but the exact same thought went through my head. I am pretty sure these things will be monitored and controlled pretty thoroughly.

My husband's sitting here saying "it's just wrong" every time they use animals in these trials.

I feel so sorry for the poor things, as they must be bred for the show to be on hand in the thousands for the tasks.
The best trials this season have been the ones that didn't feature insects or animals imo.”

I agree, walking the plank was great. Joel climbing and last nights daft task was hilarious less crittur trials and imagination from the producers.

100% agree I refuse to watch it , surprised its lasted so many years , bad excuse for entertainment

The physical challenges are more interesting and too many critter trials and cruel. Disgusting

That is different and to me your opinion does not stand up as for health reasons and not for fun for TV. I have a phobia with rats but they must be tame otherwise they would bite if wild and cruel. Has anyone been bitten by a rat, they are more scared of the humans. Maybe I am wrong but my opinion only and yours also.

You must switch your brain off then while the trials are on. And not watching it does not stop the animals/critters suffering

The faux cries of horror from Ant & Dec, and the suspenseful music. What sort of fools do they take the viewers for?

I also hate live animals/creatures being used on the tasks.

Exactly, especially when using croc,s or camens, the animals are just trying to get as far away as possible from the person.

He's been condemning it for years but it hasn't made a difference so I don't think anything will.

They also suffered a lot of caffeine withdrawal headaches - none of that seems to have happened in this show. They've certainly been spoiled!

can you be 'cruel' to insects though?.... its not like they have a nervous system like mamals, nor a consciousness .

i disagree about them being made to eat live insects/creatures (im not american or australian, they are creatures not 'critters' ). theres no point and its soooo boooorrring.

Im amazed the living animal trials are still allowed on our telly, Its barbaric, Eating grubs etc for food when desperate in certain situations is totally different from a game show, and should be stopped. or will be be given this info that they dont feel pain like us...... bollocks.

I always wondered why there was such a fuss when gino killed the rat. Surely Australian people can kill rats.
The show does have cruelty to animals though. You'd wonder how it's allowed to go ahead.

I can imagine in years to come when the grandkids ask Grandma / Grandad what was the cleverest thing you done in your life??? well I went into the Australian jungle and eat creatures, stamped on them and frightened them to death and got a lot of money for doing it. Wonder what the kids would say.?

Haven't posted on here for ages and opened up this thread thinking it would be about Martin. Poor fella, Larry Lamb is an anus.

I don't like it either.

I like the programme but my least favourite aspect along with producers trying to push the winner is the use of living animals in the trials.

Going to skip tonight's trial and I have fast forwarded others when they've made me feel uncomfortable. It seems weird to moan about it as someone who likes the show but it does get to me sometimes and I'd be very happy if they stopped using "critters" altogether and made it endurance or crystal maze type trials. Not going to happen though.

Joel's climbing trial was the best this series and gino and Stuart in the balancing tubes was the best trial ever.
