So why didn't the security notice them running down the steps then? My first thought when seeing it was that either security had been told to allow them to get on the stage or that they weren't very good at their job. I mean, for goodness sake, they started off very near the top! How much time do security need to stop them from even getting next to the judges?

If they jumped out of seats which right behind them, probs as much time

it said the police were called in the press so doubt it was staged at all there hardly going to mess with the law.

I loved the fact Sharon was just pissing herself laughing throughout it all whilst Louis carried out with his critique as normal, the pair of them are absolute crackpots

They didn't get from their seats and start running, they were waiting.”

How does the fact that they were waiting mean it was staged? There were five people involved, four got on the stage and only one, very briefly, got on camera. Pretty poor for a staged effort wouldn't you say?

Curious as you see that video which they on the stage and got caught by security men. Why security man let go of trouble-maker by the stage stair at the left side of screen?

This BBC article confirms police were called but no further action was taken.

There's also a video from Trollstation showing a police officer speaking to them after the incident. Perhaps Cowell paid the Met Police to play along..!

This would have been a better prank do and watch on the TV, but they lost the opportunity. Then again maybe it was all planned out from the production team and Trollstation to begin with in the first place.

The news of Honey G doing the Mannequin Challenge on that episode of The X Factor was posted online on the Friday, I'm just saying lol”

This was my thinking too. I don't watch x factor and yet I knew about this mannequin challenge. If I was going to stage a prank it would have been during the mannequin challenge when all the audience and on stage staff were posing as mannequins. You would think after Simon being pelted by eggs on bgt and the jedward incident that it would be nigh on impossible to storm the stage. I was under the impression that tickets for x factor are not easy to come by yet FIVE guys not linked to family and friends of the contestants manage to get seats for the quarter finals. Hmmmmm

Tickets for the shows are free. They pretended to be disabled to get priority access.

If you watch the video of the police arriving it seems X Factor took it pretty seriously

From what I can tell, it started off with two of them (the one in the yellow hoodie and the guy in crutches in grey) who first stormed the stage. They then distracted security (the guy in yellow running onto Honey G's staging) while the guy in red - the only one we saw on TV - got up to Honey G.

Then a fourth member, dressed as a police officer or maybe a security guard, also appeared alongside Honey G which seems to confuse the security before they realise he's also a part of it.

There was a also a fifth member who 'helped them' - maybe distracted security in the first place in order for the first two to get on stage.

At least one of the staff who gets rid of one of them isn't even security, he's the floor manager.

Ultimately security at these events is pretty tight but you don't have one security guard for every audience member so if there's a group of people it's not too hard to get past them.

This is a balanced response. It certainly doesn't play up to people's constant need to feel as though their hoodwinked by the world (some kind of emergent endemic schizophrenia), but it's the most likely case.

I reckon they were stealth ninjas - those tricky little buggers are behind everything according to one CT obsessive in GD.

Oh and lizard people, they get everywhere as well

Honey G just kept it cool. They should be grateful she didn't beat the shit out of them. They don't know who they're messing with. She should have smacked them down.

Call me old fashioned, but aren't pranks meant to be funny? Apart from.running in stage like a bunch of morons, there was nothing funny about their appearance- Like others have said, if they did it during the mannequin challenge it would have been much funnier
