The strange thing about the samba is that they were shown full length for most of the time! Is this a first?
It's so much better when they do that isn't it?

In the interests of our future enjoyment, I have just watched the other dances and they all show many more full length shots than in previous shows. Please hope this continues.

Someone on another thread commented on Danny's brown shoes. Previously we probably wouldn't even have seen the shoes!

It was just incredible, totally deserved four 10s.

Oti is just mesmerising and the choreography was stunning. I loved her from the minute she joined but she was out early last time so hasn't been in the limelight until this series. Glad everyone is seeing how amazing she is.

And Danny looked like a pro out there. This dance goes down as one of the Strictly classics.

it was a good dance performed well and deserved its marks, that said as I have posted earlier in the week I do not personally like tribal themed sambas but that is just my preference

But when a samba is given good music (cannot remember any other sambas as good as they played tonight for a long while) how the dance is so much better to watch
Hi bendy! If you (or any other dancer) could tell me I'd appreciate, are tribal themed sambas a thing in the Ballroom world?

That was jaw-droppingly good.

This is a dance I'd put in my "Untouchable" Category along with Jay's Jive; Natalie's Viennese Waltz.

Extra move from Danny somewhere in the middle but I like the way he placed his arm and hand above the chest when doing his batucadas. It's almost as if he's in a trance.

I don't quite agree with Bruno about the pagan mating ritual comment -- more like sexual foreplay between a European immigrant/conquistador and an Amazon rain forest indian, for me. There's a point in the routine towards the end where they're doing the natural rolls and Danny looked up the ceiling: I say to myself 'dang, the man is so enjoying this!!!'

That move right at the beginning where Danny approaches Oti thrusting his parts, is that an official Samba move?

Anyway the dance is currently trending at #1 on YouTube.

Well done Oti and Danny.
Yeah, that one. Don't know if it's "official" but have you seen William Levy Gutierrez dance to this music in DWTS? It's similar but slower -- his double bounce action was more like forward thrusts..

That was definitely the story, and they both really went for it

What I really liked was the rawness of it, and although I never like to compare Danny to a pro, because it's obvious when he is out there that he isn't one, I can't imagine any of the male pros dancing that routine quite like that.

To be fair, there's a signficant number of the male pros I don't want to imagine dancing like that

I thought it was jam packed with all the Samba steps executed really well, Oti gave him a hard routine& he pulled it off with no faults what more can I say?

I just loved Oti and Danny's samba. In the dance they started off stalking each other then were celebrating each other, I loved the wild bit in the middle and however much I was loving it you could see they were loving it more . They created a great mood, it was sexy , it was, well... just wow. I also loved the groups reaction when they went upstairs. Scd fans can sometimes get a bit spikey but it was nice to see the group dynamic upstairs afterwards. I'd felt the music had been a bit flat at Blackpool but they did a great job tonight especially with this.

I was afraid the show might fall a bit flat after it but actually it didn't and AJ and Claudia's AT meant it finished on a high too.

Just off for a rewatch of the samba..
It was PERFECTION, THE BEST SAMBA I HAVE EVER SEEN ON Strictly, Oti's Choreography was FAB-U-LOUS and Danny's dancing was INCREDIBLE, for me, it was the dance of the series so far.
AGREEAGREEAGREE!!

Wow, totally knock out. I usually really don't like the Latin stuff, but that was so phenomenal. Oti is brilliant.

Anton would put his back out and unscrew his hips.

It was excellent....but even better was danny's tribute to Ed Balls at the end of the show. That showed class.

I absolutely loved Danny & Oti's Samba. I loved the African fusion - I think it really worked.

The routine was choreographed very well to the music. I liked that it was full-on, as we don't often get that with a Samba on Strictly. The routine was packed with content so much so that it could have been a disaster if they'd gone wrong - they were dancing on the edge (and enjoying it) which I really liked. I also loved their use of the floor.

The other pro dancers' reactions to it also highlighted how good the dance was. I think it completely deserved the 10s that it received. It was the dance of the series for me (so far).

I have to give a shout-out to the Strictly singers and band. They get quite a lot of criticism on DS, but they performed this song really well.

I loved it. I've been wondering whether they should drop Samba's from the show but after that? Most definitely not. It has a place on the show when a couple can put that much entertainment, electricity and talent into it and just perform.

That might be true, but then no other pro dancer on the show, male or female, comes close to Oti's excellence and wouldn't be able to deliver a samba like that. She is in a league of her own.

Yeah best and most memorable Samba ever, very original and they were both so into it. Oti was looking her hottest yet, too.

Exactly..she took it back to its african roots... and made it really entertaining and engaging.

Def deserved a 10.
I thought it was great, but did anyone find it a wee bit uncomfortable? I hope Oti choose the tribal theme (I think Vicky Giggles said that she had a bit input into the costume, so she probably did). otherwise the producers saying to a woman of colour, OK we'd like you to dress up in native looking costume, with 'Lion King' motifs in the background, is a wee bit racist.

Maybe I'm being to sensitive, but it made me a bit uncomfortable as I said.

The dance style was def chosen by Oti - in her latin showdances with Marius she often does tribal style samba

I thought it was amazing and suited them both so well . Best samba ever for me with the theme , the dress , the music and the whole atmosphere .Oti must be so proud of it

I think that Oti told Vicky Gill what she wanted her outfit to be like.
