So what class does Larry place himself then if Martin is lower middle class?

Bit confused as to what Larry meant as 'lower middle class snob'
Did he mean Martin thinks he is better than everyone as middle class?
Does Larry think he is proper middle class but Martin is lower middle class and beneath him?

I think it's the latter. I liked Larry before this but have gone off him a bit tonight. No need for any of that

I think he's doing everything he can, however lame, to turn people against Martin. How ridiculous to bring class into it. Nasty, stupid man.

I won't be able to watch Gavin and Stacey now as i loved him in that. He is totally different from his character

Wayne too spineless to have his own opinion or to disagree with Larry

Not sure regarding Wayne. His body language looked uncomfortable in that conversion and he was put on the spot there. It didn't look good but he wasn't on Larry's level tonight. That's not fair.

As for the class thing, I'd say Larry considers himself middle class, simply because anyone I've ever encountered using "lower-middle" as a pejorative considers themselves standard middle and are looking down.

The way I took it is he's basically suggesting that Martin's a pleb that got lucky on the 90s rental property market.

I agree. Larry was one of my favourites and I didn't particularly rate Martin but I didn't like the way he treated Martin tonight.

That bit I bolded brought to mind The Two Ronnie's Class sketch with John Cleese in it.

Quite shocked by Larry and Wayne, and to a lesser extent Adam tonight. There seems to have been a marked change in mood - anything to do with Danny going do you think?

I always thought that Larry was 'working class' (or at least thinks he is) and his comment about Martin was just a case of inverted snobbery.

Why doesn't he just tell Martin to his face that he thinks that? The way he said there are 9 nice ppl over there, excluding Martin.

It was a very pointed comment wasn't it and Martin totally saw what Larry meant. Very uncomfortable viewing.

Wayne started by disagreeing and saying that martin was harmless ....and then start to agree , I think Wayne just doesn't want to cause any waves tbh

Same here For some reason he really has it in for Martin, and is showing his true colours.

He's a spiteful git. Poor Martin, what a horrible position to be in. If he spoke out to Larry, the whole lot would turn against him.

He said 'there are 10 of the most amazing human beings...' Unless he's counting himself he has included Martin in his statement.

I wonder if Carol felt uncomfortable about the whole thing when she was talking on the deck to Ola
