Does Larry think he is proper middle class but Martin is lower middle class and beneath him?”
It certainly wasn't a compliment and inverted snobbery is just as pathetic as Martin's snobbery.
He'd let Martin wind him up to the hilt and he doesn't give a stuff, unlike the patently obvious turnaround from some of the others

They all know Martin wasn't in the bottom two and the worms are turning for the cameras and the votes, as always happens at this stage of the show when they find out some idea of public opinion. It's so funny and hardly coincidental that last night they focused on the laughingly disingenuous voicing their opinion of him, beginning with Scarlett and Sam when Daddy Larry was telling off the self elected centre of attention camp naughty child

The only two people who were actually being honest were Carol, who's doesn't allow Martin to wind her up and Larry who went too far.

He's two faced and pretty spineless about being honest with people as we've already seen. Very telling of the mood and fear in camp when he said to Larry he would like to go into the bush telegraph and say exactly what he thought of Martin but he'd risk losing votes...

Probably more amused that the others were lying through their pearly whites about how lovely they think Martin is to try to protect themselves from eviction.
Then there's always that other usual calculable possibility, they might think the public are keeping him in because they've previously made it clear he often gets on most of their last nerves and they really enjoy watching celebrities suffer.

Given Wayne's comment the former is probably nearer the truth.
