For my money, Moana is the best Disney animated film of the year. Over five years of great work and research went into the details to represent the Polynesian people and their culture. These days, that kind of effort in films have to be rewarded. There are a few elements that we have already seen in Disney movies in the past but Moana is surely not your typical Disney Princess film. Moana is just a stunning movie to watch and a fun film for the family.

Its doing alright for itself....
the film's estimated five-day performance is now expected to settle in around $81 million. An opening above $80.1 million would give it the second largest five-day Thanksgiving opening of all-time, edging out Toy Story 2 and giving Disney nine of the top ten five-day Thanksgiving opening weekends.
-box office mojo

Currently (at time of writing) $97m worldwide - and its not yet been released everywhere.

I'll certainly watch it (if I watched Frozen..........)

no love interest like proper animation. If only they could get rid of the Comedy Animal also
and a girl that looks almost normal

seriously, I'm looking forward to it

To whom are you referring? Studio Ghibli? Certiainly not Fox Animation Studios or Dreamworks Animation.

The only other big name in animation is WDAS, and wouldn't you know it, they made Moana.

I miss the classic Disney Classics look but this one seems like a good film. I never understood the success of Frozen. It was supposed to be the Snow Queen which they spent 20 years developing but the end product was something very different to the Snow Queen story.

I think Tangled was better of the two and very underrated.

Saw it this evening, what a beautiful film it was. I loved the musical numbers and the animation as well as the detailed imagery which was stunning. Another 2016 hit from WDAS which proves once again that they seem to be going through a new renaissance.

Most recent Disnet heroines have been slightly cross-eyed. I think it might be to make them look quirky and approachable.

I recommend seeing this new Disney film. It's beautiful to watch, nice story and enjoyable songs. All round a great feel good movie that Disney should be applauded for.

Yup, wonderful film, with a great soundtrack.

Easily top three of WDAS films of the decade, and probably this century.

Saw it with my brother last week, loved it to bits! Such a beautiful film.

I'm actually considering watching it again because it really is just that good!

I miss the classic Disney Classics look but this one seems like a good film. I never understood the success of Frozen. It was supposed to be the Snow Queen which they spent 20 years developing but the end product was something very different to the Snow Queen story.

Agreed 100%, Tangled is amazing! Definitely deserves much more love than it currently gets.

And out of curiosity, did anyone see the post-credits scene?
Me! I saw it too!

Funnily enough I had a hunch there was going to be a post-credits scene (not sure how/why I just did) so decided to stay to find out. My brother got bored and decided to walk out in the middle of the credits groaning "Give it up, there is NO end credits scene!" And after it happened I ran up smugly telling him I was right! He thought I was making it up to wind him up and refused to believe me until a woman walking past backed me up after I asked her to.

But of course my brother being the prideful type who hates being wrong still refused to believe me and thought I collaborated with some stranger to lie to him about it (as if I'm that sad)!
