Oh balls to 2016 !

"Trapped" was definitely part of my soundtrack to the 80's growing up.

I don't understand when people say this about people in their later years, especially in this case, when the average lifespan of an American male is 78.

A premature death sure, but hardly 'no age'.

I think the closer you get to that age yourself the more of a 'no age' it feels. when you are 20 , 67 is really old but when you are 55 its no time at all.

I sincerely wish I did not remember this. In case you are feeling distraught at Colonel Abrahams being trapped out of having any more life, I recommend you look away now.

**facepalm**

Please name and shame the DJ who said this. Mind you, the majority of Radio 1 DJ's are either CBBC presenters, self loving creatures or female. I suspect it was one of the CBBC crew who said it. **sigh**

R.I.P. Colonel Abrahams thoughts go out to his family and close friends. 2016 has been crazy for deaths of famous musicians though. If heaven exists, it's hosting the best concert right now where everyone is the main act.

It's Colonel ABRAMS.

A real Colonel not because of military rank but because he was genuinely named that at birth.

I always thought he was supposed to have been either Tony Blackburn or Dave Lee Travis.

I find your comment far more distasteful than the one you felt needed spoilering. The whole 'no relation' thing is a standard joke made when two people have the same (or just similar sounding in this case) surnames. Your comment was just crass. I suppose different people just find humour in different things.

I've now just looked him up and now realise that I'd never heard of him. I honestly thought it was referring to the Smurfs chap.

Must admit the Smurf guy came to my mind too.

I'd never heard of Colonel before but 67 is an OK age.

There was a story about a year ago about how destitute and ill he was and a few people in the music industry started raising funds to help him.
Sadly it looks like the damage was already done.

Sad news.

'Trapped' was his theme tune, but he had some other great songs. Not least the very catchy 'I'm Not Gonna Let You' ...... and many more besides.

RIP Colonel.
