Do we know for sure that the two "it might be yous" have the lowest public vote?

Usually it's the bottom two vote getters but sometimes if a celebs votes drop they might get a " it might be you" to be like look your favorite isn't "safe" to encourage more votes

Exactly.

She's clearly in the bottom half of the voting. Whether she's actually the bottom two or not remains to be seen, but the fact they name her in the bottom two is enough to tell us they want her to remain - they're trying to encourage people to vote for her.

Will we ever know the answer to this? And if we do, will it make a difference? Is this a completely pointless debate?

We get to know at the end of the series when the results for the series are revealed, and if you've read my posts in this thread, you'll know it does make a difference.

What do we get to know?

ITV release the full voting figures of every public vote. From the trials, to the eliminations.

They've done this for every reality TV show since 2008. From Dancing on Ice to The X Factor to I'm A Celebrity...

Right. And then what? I genuinely want to know the importance of this.

I really don't get your point. There are two people in the bottom two. One gets voted out. That means the one that was second bottom is likely to go next. No coincidence at all.
I would guess (without doing the research) that the person finishing second bottom of the votes goes the following night more often than not, no matter if they were named as "it might be you" or not.

Thanks for all the replies - I had no idea I was opening up such a can of worms! I can see the point some are making about people who are really in the bottom two, but not named as such, being at an unfair disadvantage. They may have gone out anyway, we don't know, but they don't benefit from any possible "bounceback" sympathy vote the next day which may or may not make a difference.

The only possible reason I can see is if they are so far behind the others in the vote that they have no way of catching up even with a normal degree of "bounceback" that the producers want to pull the plug on them, and choose to give a possible advantage to someone else for whatever reason.

The massive majority of the time I remember (i have an photographic memory) that those who were called out as the "last 2" actually WERE in the B2.

But there are a few occasions where they mix it up, eg. last year:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/I%27m_..._(UK_series_15)

Note how Fearne was NAMED as Bottom 2 when she actually came 2nd in the vote. They did it for Dom Joly in the 1st one of his series too:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/I%27m_..._(UK_series_10)

The only series that happened where it was in a RANDOM order was IAC Series 11 and Series 12:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/I%27m_..._(UK_series_11)

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/I%27m_..._(UK_series_12)

Note how the blue coloured ones (which indicated they were CALLED out as B2) weren't actually in the B2.

ALL other series apart from Series 11 and 12, Dom's one in Series 10 and Feane last year were all in the ACTUAL bottom.

It happened in the 2014 series as well when Michael beurke left, we were told it was him and Edwina in the bottom two when actually it was him and Vicky that were bottom two

Ah yeah that's the other one! But in general, it IS the real B2. We will see when % are announced.

No, we weren't! We were told it might be him or Edwina. We were also told it was in no particular order.

They call at least one fake bottom every series and usually do 2
