Was there any point in Ed and Rob being in the Chachachathon?

A query about the scoring.

As the top mark was six and the lowest would be one, was there any point in Ed, who started six points below Rob, or Rob, who started (I think) seven points below the other four, even taking part as they could not change their final positions?

Ed was already guaranteed to have 2 overall judges points going in to the public vote and Rob would have 3 overall judges points regardless, or have I misunderstood?

Loved the smiles and thumbs up Ed and Katya gave the judges on their ever so predictable ratings so they enjoyed it anyway

As they were in the competition, albeit bottom two on the leader board at that point, yes, of course there was a point in both being in the cha cha cha.

Imagine the 'Unfair!' outcry had they been excluded! They both enjoyed doing it too, good for them. The comp is not just about great dancing but people who work and try hard, learning all the time; both Rob and Ed illustrate that.

They couldn't change their positions on the leaderboard but but it was a chance to show improvement from their last cha cha and dance again.

I think in theory the cha-cha-challenge marks could have increased or reduced the number of ties on the LB and therefore the number of points ultimately awarded to Ed and Rinder.

Mind you the judges did acknowledge that all the celebs had improved and that included Ed and JR.

I predicted the judges marks before the contestants danced. Louise was always going to be top with Danny second so they tied on the leader board. Ed and the judge were always going to be lowest marked. All a bit pointless.

Yes it was worth them being in the cha-cha-challenge because part of the result is decided by viewer votes. Although the judges rankings were entirely predictable, it gave us chance to have another look at everyone dance again and make our our judgments.

From the point of view of it being a fix and a farce then no, there really wasn't any point in it.

Getting down to the business end of the competition now.
