The cars will be leaving in 20 minutes
I know this has been mentioned before but why do the cars leave in 20 or 30 minutes? Why rush them that much, you surely can't do everything in that time without missing something out?
Why can't they say an hour? It just seems ridiculous. |

Wasn't there an article or post somewhere that says that they're all up and that fake wake-up was just for dramatics?

It's surely completely fabricated, the women even have a full face of make up on and perfectly coiffed hair.
If they gave me 20 minutes to get up and be in the car I'd still be in my nightie

Why can't they say an hour? It just seems ridiculous. And remember too that Claude, Karren and Lord Sugar also need to have got up early. It is not just the candidates who have a long day, though one of them can go straight back to bed. Now, this bit is speculation but we never see them eat. I should imagine that what happens on the first day is the briefing is followed by breakfast before the task starts, and a lot of the tasks split the day into two which would also allow a break for lunch. |

If it is task day, then you already know there will be a call at stupid o'clock. However, it were me, it would go:
"Hello, this is Lord Sugar's office, the cars will be with you in 20 minutes" "It's 0600, tell Al to f*ck off, I'm going back to bed". |

Just once, whoever answered the phone with the 20-minute notification should say to the rest of them, "Hey guys, we've got an hour before the cars get here, no rush".

Doesn't the arrival of the camera crew give them a hint that a task is about to begin?
Unless they're filmed 24/7 outside the tasks (which I doubt). |

I suspect the "telephone call" is as realistic as the loser leaving the building and getting into the taxi.

You are going to know when LS normally will ring up in the morning so better to be ready, i'd be straight to bed and ready for the next days task, wonder how many bathrooms there are available so people can get ready.

Why can't they say an hour? It just seems ridiculous. They don't all get woken up with a call giving just 30 minutes to get ready. The Boardroom isn't real. The lady on reception doesn't really get a call from his Lordship telling her to send the candidates through & she isn't doing anything on her computer. The suitcase they take into the taxi when they're fired is empty. To be honest, I don't know why they still bother with that nonsense, as it's how they get on in the tasks; who won & who lost & how they turn on each other in the 'boardroom' is what we really want to see. |

In an early episode in Series 1, didn't the guys not tell the ladies team what time the cars were coming until after they had taken all the snack food out of the kitchen and snaffled it for themselves ??

Equally false are the convoys of empty people carriers "carrying" the teams across London.

Why can't they say an hour? It just seems ridiculous. Not even enough time to dissolve the Steradent tablets

I don't know why they don't Iron their clothes the night before. They're always ironing in a rush

If anything you'd still be dripping wet. Why he always gets them up at 0600 is a mystery, and I bet the tasks run across more days than it seems as well, especially when third parties are involved turning around posters or TV adverts etc. |

You'd wonder why they bother with so much fakeness on the show.

I think it's physically impossible to get up, have a shower, iron business dress, get dressed, have perfect hair and for the ladies make up, and be out of the door, in 20 minutes.

Maybe so Lord Sugar can get on with his day job but perhaps it is specified in the licence from the American production company which owns the show. But having a shower and ironing your clothes could easily be done the previous night, |

It's just not needed on a show like The Apprentice & it doesn't add anything to the viewing experience either. |

I'd like to see a bit of spirit-no one gets up to answer the 'phone!!
![]() I must admit it strikes me as odd that they all conform with the 20/30 minutes rubbish but non of them seem to have researched previous series as they keep making the same mistakes as others have in the past. As for thug/bully Paul last week, did he REALLY think shouting LS down was going to be a good idea?

The cars will "arrive in 20 minutes" is not the same as them leaving in 20 minutes

Its in Alan Sugars book. The voice that says "the cars will arrive in 20 minutes" is fake. Its overlaid onto the scene thats not what is said on the phone. It just rings and nothing is heard. They have to act. Everyone knows for instance the boardroom is fake because they had to build one to accomodate the cameras etc. The receptionist this series had the same spreadsheet on the screen for 4-5 weeks running. I noticed it had changed last week.
As for the taxi scene have you never wondered why they all wear a scarf ? The part of the scene where they leave the building and get into the taxi is filmed before the tasks even start or they have met AS. They film one in the day, one in the night. The scarf is not even theirs. Then when they are fired the continuity dept makes sure they have the same coat and scarf and the leaving interview is then done in the taxi on the day they are fired. So getting into the taxi is filmed weeks before the next scene you see when they are in the taxi. Reason for the scarf is to cover up the shirt/blouse they are wearing. Ever since I found this out I always watch to see if they slip up. Karthik is an example. The shirt he had on in the apprentice boardroom was not the same as the one he had on when leaving the building because the scarf was not tightly roundhis neck and you saw his shoulder briefly. Its the magic of TV. What you see is not always whats being shown! |

In a similar vein to the cars arriving in 20minutes, this week the teams were stunned to find Karren & Claude on their doorstep as they had no idea a task was coming. How they were not alerted by all the folks setting up that VR gear in their living room, surely they knew something was about to happen?
