I think it's physically impossible to get up, have a shower, iron business dress, get dressed, have perfect hair and for the ladies make up, and be out of the door, in 20 minutes.
If anything you'd still be dripping wet. Why he always gets them up at 0600 is a mystery, and I bet the tasks run across more days than it seems as well, especially when third parties are involved turning around posters or TV adverts etc.

It's surely completely fabricated, the women even have a full face of make up on and perfectly coiffed hair.
If they gave me 20 minutes to get up and be in the car I'd still be in my nightie ![]() |

Its in Alan Sugars book. The voice that says "the cars will arrive in 20 minutes" is fake. Its overlaid onto the scene thats not what is said on the phone. It just rings and nothing is heard. They have to act. Everyone knows for instance the boardroom is fake because they had to build one to accomodate the cameras etc. The receptionist this series had the same spreadsheet on the screen for 4-5 weeks running. I noticed it had changed last week.
As for the taxi scene have you never wondered why they all wear a scarf ? The part of the scene where they leave the building and get into the taxi is filmed before the tasks even start or they have met AS. They film one in the day, one in the night. The scarf is not even theirs. Then when they are fired the continuity dept makes sure they have the same coat and scarf and the leaving interview is then done in the taxi on the day they are fired. So getting into the taxi is filmed weeks before the next scene you see when they are in the taxi. Reason for the scarf is to cover up the shirt/blouse they are wearing. Ever since I found this out I always watch to see if they slip up. Karthik is an example. The shirt he had on in the apprentice boardroom was not the same as the one he had on when leaving the building because the scarf was not tightly roundhis neck and you saw his shoulder briefly. Its the magic of TV. What you see is not always whats being shown!

Also in a similar vein, the contestant who's been fired departs in a taxi with a tiny suitcase. Departs for where? At some point, he/she would have to return to the house to collect the remainder of their clothing. But not before the dramatic "reveal" back at the house when the other losing contestants return.

Someone once suggested that the loser gets taken to a hotel for the night and their stuff is retrieved from the house later. Of course if they live in London they might as well go straight home.
Can't recall who it was. |

I'd actually like a proper behind the scenes book on this, maybe with some candidates' snippets on what they got up to (well maybe not quite all
) but I suppose they don't want "BBC lies to you" tabloid stories!

Last night some of them were up so they must have known they were doing a task or due to do a task.
Last night's ep was very intrusive with Karren and Claude turning up at the house and then addressing the candidates in their nightwear. They should have been given the chance to get dressed. It was not professional. |

No way in hell can anyone be ready in 20 minutes. When the alarm goes off. I have to:
Spend 10 minutes in bed waking up Have a shower Have a wee (not in the shower!) ![]() Make the bed Open the curtains Put the perky coffee pot on Feed the cats Make my brekky Eat my brekky and drink my perky coffee Get dressed Apply my make up Do my hair Put my coat on Leave the house. I would NOT do all of this ^^^ in 20 minutes! When I have to go out, I usually wake an hour and a quarter before I have to leave the house. If I didn't wake until 20 minutes before I have to leave, I would be fatigued and lethargic all day. |

I guess it's more of a case the contestants are told 'something is happening shortly' and just 'react'. So they aren't told specifically, more guided that a call is on the way and so on. I suspect they don't live in the house by themselves and producers / production team also stay with them to keep an eye on them and to protect the contestants.

Totally agree. Courtney politely offered Karren and Claude a tea or coffee and just got a "No. Get down here, so we can get on, please" from Karren. Nice ... not.

Nothing about this programme is realistic .I bet they even knew Claude and Karrrren were coming round to the house. They even have to act as if they've been fired when in the taxi.

And did they not wonder what all that VR stuff was doing there? A lot of this is staged, including Karren's nasty comments - who'd be that gratuitously mean in front of the TV viewing public unless they were playing an agreed role? |

I spend longer than 20 minutes on my morning dump so I'd never cut it.

Most if not all of them are already awake, owing to the television crew crashing about getting ready to film the phone call. That said, by all accounts the 20 minutes is then real.
And remember too that Claude, Karren and Lord Sugar also need to have got up early. It is not just the candidates who have a long day, though one of them can go straight back to bed. Now, this bit is speculation but we never see them eat. I should imagine that what happens on the first day is the briefing is followed by breakfast before the task starts, and a lot of the tasks split the day into two which would also allow a break for lunch. super obvious this year that Jessica and probably quite a few others smoke, but we never see this either |

I doubt this. They probably grab sandwiches on the move and eat in the car. It's

I am watching the first series and there is a whole thing in the first couple of episodes about them getting up earlier than the other team to make sandwiches!
I missed series one and would be interested in seeing it.
