Its in Alan Sugars book. The voice that says "the cars will arrive in 20 minutes" is fake. Its overlaid onto the scene thats not what is said on the phone. It just rings and nothing is heard. They have to act. Everyone knows for instance the boardroom is fake because they had to build one to accomodate the cameras etc. The receptionist this series had the same spreadsheet on the screen for 4-5 weeks running. I noticed it had changed last week.
If you look closely you can see it's not actually a spreadsheet - but a picture of a spreadsheet!

May I ask if you are watching it on-line?

I missed series one and would be interested in seeing it.
All episodes are on You Tube.

Sorry, yes, that is where I am watching it.

It is interesting to compare then and now!

None of the fripperies like that are real:-

They don't all get woken up with a call giving just 30 minutes to get ready.
The Boardroom isn't real.
The lady on reception doesn't really get a call from his Lordship telling her to send the candidates through & she isn't doing anything on her computer.
The suitcase they take into the taxi when they're fired is empty.

To be honest, I don't know why they still bother with that nonsense, as it's how they get on in the tasks; who won & who lost & how they turn on each other in the 'boardroom' is what we really want to see.
The 'fripparies' are the anchor-point the program is structured around. Just like the (terrible analogy ahead) titles and credits are unwritten foundations to each program that lets viewers know where they are, the fripparies perform the same function.

You know each week LS will give someone the finger, say "you're fired", they'll walk out boardroom, maybe wait and hug fellow contestants, exit building pulling wheeled suitcase and get into taxi. Then cue taxi inteview where contstant says "I coulda been a contender",

These are the things we expect every week and they are the program and we'd miss them awfully if they started to F around with them.

There is a lot to be said for this - just look what they have done to Big Brother.

No way do they get ready in 20-30 minutes. They always look perfect when getting into the cars, perfect styled hair, they look well fed, completely awake. It would be more realistic and believable if on occasion we saw dripping hair, someone trying to scarf down a bagel or a coffee, and just general overall rushing.

I know this has been mentioned before but why do the cars leave in 20 or 30 minutes? Why rush them that much, you surely can't do everything in that time without missing something out?
Why can't they say an hour? It just seems ridiculous.
Maybe its about discipline and meeting strict deadlines. I would love to see someone, just for once, lagging behind and holding everyone up!!!

How they were not alerted by all the folks setting up that VR gear in their living room, surely they knew something was about to happen?
They could have filmed Karren & Claude's part, got them all assembled and then made them wait while the equipment was set up...and while Karren & Claude actually did take Courtney up on his offer of a tea or coffee!!!

OR

The camera crew turned up as normal, put that particular room out of bounds and st up the equipment.

Nothing about this programme is realistic .I bet they even knew Claude and Karrrren were coming round to the house. They even have to act as if they've been fired when in the taxi.
No, they only 'act' the walk out of the door to the taxi.

Their 'taxi response' to their firing is genuine.

My impression is that in most tasks, they have breakfast after Lord Sugar's briefing. Many tasks are also neatly divided into morning and afternoon subtasks, which may give time for lunch as well.

Also, even if we accept the phone call at face value, it is clear that many of the candidates are already up.

Anyone noticed that Trishna had a battleship grey type suit on but when she walked to the taxi suddenly the trousers were light grey ! She also had one of the worst scarfes on ever.

Ever since I knew the taxi walk was filmed before the series I always watch out for the continuity errors now.

A friend of mine was a producer on the show and I called this out as being fake, but he insists that the time limit was real. I believe him.
