Posted this on the main show thread, but I was really astounded tonight for the wrong reasons.

Pro dances on strictly used to be something I really looked forward to and I love that song. I heard it on the radio the other day and even thought it would be great to see a dance to it on SCD. I think that was possibly my least favourite pro dance and interpretation though.

All the romance of the song destroyed, instead given to hopping and skipping franticness. What would have been wrong with a classy rumba???

I really miss the old pros of strictly nowadays and I hope we don't continue down this DWTS style route.

I agree absolutely no style or charisma. Kevin was excruciating.

I was rather surprised as well. It looked like something they hadn't really prepared.

I thought it went with the song. They were both crap.

They was all over the place.

Kevin is VERY irritating when he "lets it all hang out" like that...

Probably someone just wanting an excuse to create a Clifton bashing thread.

I wonder if Ellie will be a 2017 contestant.

My opinion would have been exactly the same for any of the pros if they danced that routine!!

I do like Kevin and Karen but I didn't like this one dance of theirs. I'd have felt the same had any pros danced it - I don't think it was down to any deficiency in their dance ability I just didn't like that the choreographers went contemporary rather than rumba. A beautiful love story rumba (with some contemporary elements if desired) would have been lovely to that song.

I usually like Karen and Kevin and I can see what they were going for, but it really didn't work for me.

It really didn't suit the song.

Looked messy and out of time, sadly...

Song wasn't great either... Ellie would be a good contender for next series!

I wouldn't be surprised if a number of the people have the same opinion as myself: Karen and Kevin are good pros, an asset to Strictly, but they spoil their dancing when they get so frantic. Their pro dances in the past have shown the same problem.

Jo usually does some nice ballroom when she's performing in that slot.

Awful just awful, and I would feel the same no matter who was dancing.

Glad you think so, I'll get practicing.

Was it supposed to be contemporary or something?

Bloody mess. Kev needs to stick to what he does best, not that thrashy lot of nonsense.

I did like Karen's dress and bare feet, but that was about it. Kevin kept hunching his shoulders - I thought that was a no-no?

I have to disagree - I thought it was excellent and fitted the music. It was a contempary interpretation of the music, although I don't know the song and it's meaning. Worked for me 😁

It looked like a 'vulnerable' woman had forgotten her medication and gone out prancing in the wind and the rain, and they sent a 'responsible adult' after her but in the end he just joined in.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Kev was jumping about like a demented child catcher.

The song was pitiful.mso what do you expect the dancers to do? Perform miracles

I agree though it's just another chance to do a bit of Clifton bashing. Shame you couldn't get Jo in her as well I suppose.

And why did it have to be the Cliftons ? Neil and Chloe could have done it surely ?

It most definitely wasn't contemporary! No idea what it was supposed to be apart from a right old state!

You mean it didn't capture the zeitgeist of now?
