The song was pitiful.mso what do you expect the dancers to do? Perform miracles

I agree though it's just another chance to do a bit of Clifton bashing. Shame you couldn't get Jo in her as well I suppose.
Hang on, I'm not a massive fan but I LIKE the Cliftons and spend time defending them from the stupid garbage they get thrown at them. But...

That was a bit crap. Seriously.

I agree that there is often too much Clifton 'hate' on this site. However I also think that it's a shame when you can't express an opinion without it being disregarded because it involves those dancers. As I already mentioned, that routine would have been awful to me regardless of which pros were involved.

It looked like a 'vulnerable' woman had forgotten her medication and gone out prancing in the wind and the rain, and they sent a 'responsible adult' after her but in the end he just joined in.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
You mean it didn't capture the zeitgeist of now?
if Now is a Care In The Community programme where you live, then of course. Personally I recommend a depot injection, just to be sure.

Agreed. Was an overwrought and frantic mess I thought. But I felt it matched Ellie's performance as well which seemed really kind of rushed can I say? Frantic as well? Anyway, it was quite possibly my least favourite singer/pro dance I can remember.

I asked on the main show thread what dance they were dancing. I guess it was a rhumba of some sort - contemporary I guess. What ever it was it was bloody awful - similar to Karen and Mark Wright's dreadful rhumba that beat Jake and Janette to get to the final 2 years ago

There was one lift I liked.

Who choreographed it? Anyone?

Probably someone just wanting an excuse to create a Clifton bashing thread.
I have never bashed a Clifton - mostly because it would be illegal but also because I don't mind them at all... I'd even say I like them.

But that dance this evening... Didn't seem to fit the song at all. And the sound seemed poor too. And I hate the audience - presumably encouraged by the production team - to shriek and appaud when the dancers appear.

I have to disagree - I thought it was excellent and fitted the music. It was a contempary interpretation of the music, although I don't know the song and it's meaning. Worked for me 😁
I unashamedly loved it

I'm no dance expert but I thought we had a demented Kate Bush let out for good behaviour. Even my 11 year old daughter commented Kevin looked like he was throwing a sack of spuds about with the lifts

And why did it have to be the Cliftons ? Neil and Chloe could have done it surely ?
Probably because the pro dancers take it in turns to perform a dance to the song performed by the guest singer or group during each Results show.

Is there a particular reason why you feel that Kevin and Karen should not fulfil this part of their commitment to the show as the other dancers do - or is it just a case of finding any old excuse - no matter how ludicrous - to single them out for criticism?

Yes this is my reasoning - Kevin had his hands more than full this week with the two dances for Louise, plus the sports days Pro dance don't you think ? Any of the other guys not in the competition could have done it.

sorry to disappoint any clifton bashers but the routines are choreographed for them - didnt like the dance because it wasnt a particular dance like a waltz or a rumba etc then again the music wasnt anything you could pick a dance out of either just because it is slow does not mean you can do a rumba to it - Karen and Kev drew the short straw

But that's not for you to judge. The scheduling of musical performances and the accompanying dances will be agreed between the production team and the dancers involved and that dance could have been planned some time ago to be performed this week - regardless of the prospective workload on either Kevin or Karen's schedule.

As husband and wife, it probably makes perfect sense for them to dance it together, as they could easily rehearse it whenever it suited them.

On the Eurovision Song Contest?

I realise now the guest singers do NOT need any dancers . They mostly detract from the singer .

Well all I can say is that I agree with CravenHaven, and pleased that they've had their turn now and won't be doing the next guest spot.

If the singer is Ellie Goulding, any distraction is very welcome

So, just a spot of gratuitous Clifton bashing after all.

Thanks for confirming it.
