It was too much. They were to brash, to loud, and made it all about them. That slot should never be all about the pro dancers, even if sometimes by virtue of the wonderful dancing it sometimes ends up being like that.

These two set out to make it all about THEIR performance. Horrible.

Please please never again. The singing was bad enough but the 2 Cliftons cavorting around as if they had escaped from somewhere was just...

So, just a spot of gratuitous Clifton bashing after all.

Thanks for confirming it.
Grow a thicker skin. Just because you adore them doesn't mean everyone else must feel the same fgs. It's an opinion lots on here share, and we're entitled to use the forum to express it.

Yes this is my reasoning - Kevin had his hands more than full this week with the two dances for Louise, plus the sports days Pro dance don't you think ? Any of the other guys not in the competition could have done it.
Kevin wasn't in the Sports Day routine.

I thought it was pretty shoddy but not one of these pros can dance contmporary so it's no surprise.

Better still, perhaps you and the other armchair critics ought to grow up a little.

They're just doing the job they are paid to do - which is training, supporting and performing with their assigned celeb partner for the duration of their inclusion on the show... and fulfilling their commitments to group dances, media and promotional appearances and any other performances associated with the show.

All of the pros - past and present - seem to take their commitments to Strictly very seriously and they have all been a great asset to the show. The bizarre and irrational dislike that some of the members of this forum have adopted towards Kevin, Karen and Joanne is breathtaking and, quite frankly, the intensity of the vitriol directed at these people, simply for doing their jobs - and doing them well - makes these detractors look more than just slightly unhinged.

If complete strangers who behave in the inoffensive and joyful way that Kevin, Karen, Joanne and all the other Strictly pro dancers do, make you and others feel so angry for absolutely no reason, perhaps you all need to be looking a little closer to home to identify the source of the problem.

And others are entitled to call BS on a bashing post trying not to look like one.

Why do a few people throw at anyone who defends a dancer the term 'adore'? Weird.

I like both Kevin and Karen but I did feel there are other pros who would have been better suited to this performance. It needed dancers able to portray a little more subtlety - neither of which are Kevin or Karen's strong points. I'd save them for the more dramatic, powerful performances.

I thought it was awful, so awful I hit the fast-forward button halfway through. If Karen & Kevin choreographed that then any curiosity I had about their show next year has completely gone. If someone else choreographed it, then Karen & Kevin should have had the good sense to say no.

I'd much rather have seen Janette & Aljaz dance a gorgeous Rumba to that song.

And why did it have to be the Cliftons ? Neil and Chloe could have done it surely ?
Neil & Katya danced last week. Chloe & AJ were front and centre in the pro dance a couple of weeks ago, but I agree they should get a chance to dance for the music act.

Think Kevin had to many Haribo tonight , that dance.... and I use the term loosely , was manic. At one point it looked like they were running around playing Tag.

Maybe it was... I didn't happen to see it and I have no idea what sort of input K & K had in choreographing it - or not. Perhaps they were simply asked to perform it as directed, just as they would if they were performing any other stage routine choreographed by another person.

Even it it was pants - and I'm in no position to judge that - it does not detract from the rest of the comments expressed in my post.

Good, so I am not the only one who thought it was demented. There was a moment when Karen looked like a mad woman who escaped from the attic (or wherever she had been kept - dungeon or lunatic asylum), and Kevin looked like her catcher...
It was a most bizarre number.

So, you are commenting on a dance which you haven't actually seen??!!

Take it from me, it was an absolute horror! I laughed out loud at one point as it was so awful.

Probably someone just wanting an excuse to create a Clifton bashing thread.
In the same vein:
You must be a member of the Clifton Clan since you are defending them.
(I am sure my statement is as valid as yours above).

A pin dropping would have been too loud for an Ellie Goulding song. I am not a Clifton basher. Bernie Clifton dancing with his ostrich would have been nice.

I wasn't listening to the lyrics of the song, so it might have been a contempo recreation of an episode in the tragic love story of Edward Rochester and Bertha Mason?

Who knows? Who cares?

Did you actually read what I wrote? Apparently not, it would appear.

I made no comment whatsoever on the content of the dance. I simply pointed out that if this dance was allocated to Kevin and Karen to dance as part of their contracted commitment to the show, and I addressed the comment of someone who appeared to be suggesting that they shouldn't have danced - for not better reason than because that poster happens not to like Kevin and Karen Clifton apparently.

At no time have I commented upon the content of the dance they performed and if you can identify where you believe I did so, I'd be interested to see it. I think you'll probably find that in fact I did not. Do try not to make things up as you go along.

If you think it was awful - that's your prerogative. I can't comment on it - and indeed I did not.

It was stupendously awful. Poor Karen looked like she was having a fit much of the time. I'm not especially pro or anti Clifton, I just thought this particular dance was gobsmackingly bad.

The Lyrics should anyone be interested

Lyrics
Fire and ice
This love is like fire and ice
This love is like rain and blue skies
This love is like sun on the rise
This love got me rolling the dice
Don't let me lose
Still falling for you
Still falling for you

Beautiful mind
Your heart got a story with mine
Your heart got me hurting at times
Your heart gave me new kind of highs
Your heart got me feeling so fine
So what to do
Still falling for you
Still falling for you
It took us a while
With every breath a new day
With love on the line
We've had our share of mistakes
But all your flaws and scars are mine
Still falling for you
Still falling for you

And just like that
All I breathe
All I feel
You are all for me
I'm in
And just like that
All I breathe
All I feel
You are all for me
No one can lift me, catch me the way that you do
I'm still falling for you

Brighter than gold
This love shining brighter than gold
This love is like letters in bold
This love is like out of control
This love is never growing old
You make it new
Still falling for you
Still falling for you

It took us a while
'Cause we were young and unsure
With love on the line
What if we both would need more
But all your flaws and scars are mine
Still falling for you
Still falling for you
Still falling for you

And just like that
All I breathe
All I feel
You are all for me
I'm in
And just like that
All I breathe
All I feel
You are all for me
No one can lift me, catch me the way that you do
Still falling for you

Falling, crash into my arms
Love you like this
Like a first kiss
Never let go
Falling, crash into my arms
Never breaking what we got
Still falling for you
Still falling for

And just like that
All I breathe
All I feel
You are all for me
I’m in
And just like that
All I breathe
All I feel
You are all for me
All for me

And just like that
All I feel is you
All I feel is you
You are all for me
I’m still falling
And just like that
All I feel is you
All I feel is you
You are all for me
No one can lift me, catch me the way that you do
I’m still falling for you

This could be the Clifton's Bacofoil dance. Unless Kev has got something else with a touching narrative lined up for Louise, involving straightjackets, needles and a 'Wet floor' sign somewhere.
It was never the same since Maggie closed the institutions.

I just watched it again because I couldn't believe what I'd seen earlier. Anyway, it works a lot better as a dance with the sound off (we're watching something else so had to have it muted). It is still extremely frenetic and not particularly attractive to watch, but the disconnect between music and dance is less apparent (for obvious reasons).

Can't say I saw the dancing as I was busy trying to find something sharp to stick in my ears and through my brain to stop me hearing Ellie Goulding's horrific 'singing'.

Maybe the mute button would be better next time.

The sooner the producers of SCD fall out of love with the Cliftons en masse and stop shoving them down the publics neck the better off we will all be!
