I quite liked it.

I'd call it a "Show Dance" and leave it at that.

I loved the chemistry between Kevin and Karen. I thought they danced to the lyrics of the song.

But I still liked it when viewed from Craven Haven's avant guarde interpretation.

Yup, must be that I like that style. It takes all kinds and I'm one of these.

I liked it. It worked well with the lyrics. It was very sytycd style. I think the dancers like to create less structured, more contemporary style dances for the pro dances.

Kev was jumping about like a demented child catcher.
A perfect description, he really was grotesque!

sorry to disappoint any clifton bashers but the routines are choreographed for them - didnt like the dance because it wasnt a particular dance like a waltz or a rumba etc then again the music wasnt anything you could pick a dance out of either just because it is slow does not mean you can do a rumba to it - Karen and Kev drew the short straw
Not that it really matters, but Karen has said on twitter that they choreographed it themselves.

I'm glad some people at least enjoyed it, but even with further reflection and reading more comments on it then I still feel if was such a waste of a routine.

I thought it was awful. Kevin in particular was stylistically so off the mark for me.

I thought Kevin's lines and movements were ugly and ungainly. He was manhandling Karen as if she was a sack of spuds. Karen did amazingly well under the circumstances, and miraculously managed to look graceful, elegant and polished. I imagine they were asked to choreograph something freestyle. I go to a lot of contemporary dance performances, and I've seen loads of this type of thing unfortunately, sometimes by top ballet dancers whose high status has granted them a platform to break away from more traditional dance. Some people enjoy that sort of thing, but it's not my cup of tea. Self-indulgence on that scale is best done in private, like midnight bingeing on giant tubs of Ben and Jerry's.

I'm not a fan of Kevin. He overstates everything, making normal dance steps look tortuous and extreme.

I don't know why people refer to " The Cliftons" coupling Joanne with Kevin. Her choreography and dancing are exquisite. She is a melt-in-the-mouth mille feuille. He's more of a dunkin' donut.

I'm surprised we, who voted for Brexit, were not blamed for the dreadful dancing by team Clifton....
...We've been blamed for everything else

I'm not at all surprised to learn that Kevin didn't choreograph that dance. Kev is a brilliant choreographer - the best in the show imo - so there's no way he could have come up with that mess.
And you're right, a rumba wouldn't have been right for that song. It wasn't the comtemporary nature of it I didn't like, it was the way they seemed to be fighting eachother and the fact that Kevin looked like he had lice that were giving him gyp.

I thought it went with the song. They were both crap.
They was all over the place.

Kevin is VERY irritating when he "lets it all hang out" like that...
If the singer is Ellie Goulding, any distraction is very welcome
All of the above. Horrific. I suspect Kevin and Karen put it together themselves. Sadly it was terribly self indulgent and utter pants.

So was the song. Sounded like a breathless 14 year old bedroom angst tantrum. Yawn.

It confused me.

I cannot stand her voice normally and I'm not a big Clifton fan.

But I quite liked the whole thing.

I need a lie down.

To be fair, I do want to watch it again but only because I found it so entertainingly awful. Do you think they lost a bet and their forfeit was having to perform that hot mess?

Okay.
It must have been Karen, then. No way was Grimsby's finest responsible for that

Probably someone just wanting an excuse to create a Clifton bashing thread.

Or being objective and not emotive, unlike you

I thought Karen was trying to channel DizzyDora Duncan.....very badly!

The routine was not of a suitable standard for this show, and should've been axed at the dress run by the Producers to save further embarrassment.

The notion that a professional choreographer would be hired and paid money to choreograph that tosh is absurd! It was obviously put together by the dancers themselves.

But let's face it, the song was appalling, as so many of the music guests have been this year.

I didn't like it at all, I thought Kevin looked ungainly and certainly did not look like a pro dancer.

It was all very strange, I thought Ellie pants were around her ankles, but then you could see them through her dress.
The dance by Kevin and Karen was terrible, easily the worst dance I have seen 2 pros perform. Manic, disjointed, ugly.

Kevin & Karen really did draw the short straw with that song. I'm not a fan of Ellie Goulding at the best of times -- I find her vocals weedy, thin-voiced and squawky, there's no depth to her voice at all -- and I thought the song was horrible. I'm not sure any dancer could have redeemed that song!

I'm just going off to watch the Results show on iPlayer whilst doing a spot of recreational ironing. I'd better see this showstopper of a dance for myself.

I shall report back on my findings later.

Well, it wasn't great - not really my kind of thing, really. However, I don't think it was the worst dance I've ever seen either.

The song was pretty "meh" and I didn't much care for it.

It was seriously terrible. Just gyrating around aimlessly and flinging their extremities at each other. Ghastly.

I think a lot of contemporary dance is kind of like that, really.
