He's a patron of the British Stammering Association. You can read his speech about it here: http://www.stammering.org/speaking-o...mes-bsa-patron
If you watch any of his Strictly interviews back, you'll notice the occasional pause when he's being interviewed. He's not thinking of what to say: he's controlling the stammer.”
Ed was very brave to go into politics, which requires so much public speaking, with a stammer. I am afflicted myself with a similar stammer to Ed's in that I can control it for the most part and many/most people wouldn't even realise that I have a stammer at all. However, before every talk I ever deliver I become extremely nervous, not because I'm not in command of my subject, but because I am terrified I won't get the words out. It happened once, years ago, when I was doing a presentation for my nursing course and I still feel mortified by the memory. Like Ed, I've learned to alter my sentence structure if I'm faced with a challenging word - pauses are more acceptable than stuttering.
I missed Ed and Katya tonight but I'm also relieved that they weren't dancing so that they wouldn't be criticised and faced with all the calls for them to quit etc
I decided to give my 3 online votes to Louise (2) and Ore but I don't really mind who wins as long as it's not Robert Rinder.
