I've just had this as a response to one of my posts, which was about Louise Redknapp, and the first one I have ever made about her.

Why is it OK to have digs at Ed Balls, but not Louise? (even if it could have been interpreted as that, which it wasn't)

It's OK to say mean things about Ed, because he is a terrible dancer? I've seen some awful name calling about him.

And why is a comment passed off as a "dig"?

These boards are actually getting quite stupid.

I think the actual comment was "NOT more digs".
Quite a different meaning

Why not just address this to the poster who wrote that rather than start a new thread about it?

Don't let these people get to you. Some people have double standards.

Because it is a wider issue than just my post, and I have already responded to the poster anyway.

Have there actually been "digs" at Louise?

I've only seen comments about her being bland and beige, which are opinions, and about her looking down at her feet, which are facts.

I think the digs are more at Kevin actually.

What do you want the rest of us to do about it? 😀😀

I think you've overreacted a tad to make a thread over it if I'm honest. It's no different to any other reality TV forum.

There was a very long thread on here a few weeks ago about "fan wars". The problem is everyone has different ideas of what is acceptable criticism, or indeed a dig, and you can't change that. Some get annoyed at the slightest bit of negativity and some don't care. Sometimes when a theory or opinion is repeated a lot of times by a handful of posters, it starts to feel like most of the forum feels that way - hence the (false) idea that everyone on DS hates the Cliftons.

Louise is probably the most unpopular contestant left now on DS now I think. That's about all that can be said because my idea of a dig may be very different from yours, yours will be different to the next poster etc.

Not at all.

Simply asking why it is OK to have a pop at one contestant who isn't very good, and that is seen as acceptable because they are seen as a buffoon, but if someone makes comments about others, who are better, and that aren't always positive, why that is seen as wrong? Nobody has actually answered that, instead, come back with "digs" at me.

Interesting, isn't it? Why we can't debate that without getting personal?

Would love to know.

Tell us the etiquette then, so we all know how to behave on here.

FGS I made a remark about something someone said on the show, which was actually tongue in cheek if anyone really read it properly. It's far less contentious than some horrible things that others have said about other contestants.

I responded directly to the person who replied.

Then I thought it was a wider issue, because it appears that we are only allowed to pass less than positive comments on those who are seen as jokes like Ed and Rob (seen someone calling Rob a clown earlier on today). That is seen as acceptable, for some reason.

Really don't get your point.

How do you make this assumption ? Every one of the 5 left have their detractors .

I don't see why you need an answer. Can't you make up your own mind as to what is acceptable behaviour and what isn't?

If your next door neighbour kills his wife, does that give you the green light to kill yours?
If someone has a dig at Ed, does that make it Ok to have a dig at Louise?

Was just thinking the same myself, whatever was said and whatever the response the OP on this thread has just lost the moral high ground ( haven't seen the posts in question) by starting this thread.

Having said that......

What a great idea for a thread

Let me start

No more digs at........

Claude's dresses - she's quirky, live with it.

What would you like to see no more "digs" at.

Missing the point entirely. Of course I can make up my own mind. Just that nobody seems to agree with me I was interested in other people's views on it. That's what discussion boards are for, I think, anyway.

It isn't OK to "dig" at anyone. It is OK to have debate and make comments about people's dancing, costumes, comments and so on in the context of the show.

Louise said something, I commented on it jokingly and was accused of having a dig. I have never made a remark about her before and never will again after this.

It is not OK to call people clowns, buffoons, idiots and morons.

If you'd read other posts, you'd see I have replied to the original responder.

I did notice a post about Claudia "what the hell was she wearing" or similar.

Nobody had a go about that!

Of course they do - I didn't say otherwise!

I think it's fairly obvious Louise is not as popular as the others on here. I don't think people dislike her, but she certainly doesn't seem to attract support in the way say, Claudia does.

It doesn't really matter since DS seems to be out of step with the general public.
