Oh wow, part of me is horrified and part of me is fascinated, to know that you have seen a serial killer walking around is amazing and creepy at the same time.

If I had my time again I'd probably study criminal psychology and specialise in profiling, it did really interest me when I was younger.

The strange thing is that both actors playing Christie spoke in hushed tones to mimic his damaged voice box as he was gassed in WW1 - but, for some reason, the director has decided that in this version Ethel should also speak in the same fashion.

"It seems very slow" Christ what are people expecting? Starsky and Hutch??

Thought it was very good, especially seeing it unravel from her perspective.

Creepy, grim and well acted so far.

Well, maybe she did. She wasn't always speaking in soft tones though but even when she was speaking quietly I could hear perfectly well what she was saying.

Mumbling in dramas is one of my greatest bugbears, and I complain about it often - but I didn't find it a problem during this episode.

Haha! I was one of the posters expecting Starsky and Hutch! Yes I did think that it was very slow (and I think it's my phrase that you have quoted)

However on reflection it was paced well, lots of scene setting and story telling from a different perspective. I'm looking forward to next week

Interestingly, the recent ITV drama about the serial killer Mary Ann Cotton drew howls of criticism for being "too fast".

Mind you, they did have to skip quickly through 22 murders in 2 episodes!

Yes the movie is 'slow' too, deliberately so. Builds the atmosphere and adds to the normality of it all

Wouldn't Evans have had a Welsh accent? The trailers for next week sounds London to me.

I'd love to 'know' a serial killer, to really get into their head and try to understand where that drive comes from. I doubt that we will ever know as everyone is so different but to do an in depth study of one person would be fascinating.

I really enjoyed this drama. Acting was great only problem I had with it was I found it hard to hear. Even when I tried turning up the volume it sounded distorted. Never had any problem hearing the film version with Richard Attenborough though. But looking forward to next weeks episode.

Rather you than me. I think I read somewhere on the Web that there was some necrophilia involved and Christie had a sexual fetish about strangulation. A bit like that Nielsen bloke in north London in the 80s.

I know it's a dark subject, but did they actually have to film it in the dark? I didn't find it engrossing to be honest. It was atmosphere overload for me.

Yes, this could be seen as common, lots of people say that Neilson was a UK Jeffery Dahmer.

It was a very old, drab and run-down building and the dinginess was probably entirely authentic. They were probably still using gas mantles for lighting.

Indeed, and much of it was during the war when there wouldn't have been any light, especially at night.
