There were too many characters anyway. I prefer a smaller cast. They've coped with less than 30 characters before in the 80's and 90's.

Don't think it's the answer to this, the cast is decent enough to go on as it is. Some might argue there is more of an issue with the writing and storytelling. I can't remember the last EE addition that was good imo that didn't have previous connection to the square other than Carmel

A few new additions and a new family would be good, even if its just on a trial basis!
