My Aunt was in the house tonight and like the rest of my family is a Strictly fan. However at the very end of the result show you see the usual interviews with the contestants and my Aunt complained about Claudia and Ore because they talked about themselves while everyone else commented on how much they will miss Ed Balls.

Now I have noticed this for a while and I understand that it's all edited but it does make contestants look bad if they're shown talking about themselves instead of the one who is eliminated.

My guess is they want a few contestants to talk about the person who's just left and a few to end on a positive note by looking forward to next week.

Exactly. It's always the same. First few talk about their departed comrade, the rest talk about themselves or other things (when there are lots of them).

This was mentioned last week.

I thought it was obvious that it's edited like that every week. It never even occurred to me people wouldn't realise they'd talk about both the person who'd just gone and their own performance and it would be edited together. Do people really seem to think someone would walk up to the camera and be like "yeah, shame Ed's gone" then just walk away.

I expect that the contestants simply answer the question which is put to them. If they are asked to share their thoughts on the coming week, rather than to comment on their eliminated co-contestant's departure, then that's what they're going to be expected to speak about.

I heard they're asked about both but the editors choose what will be shown.

That sounds about right. At first I thought it was strange but it happens every week.

The Goodbye Ed video is an edit with all of couples talking about Ed. It's the same every week. For the TV, they mix up comments (including some about getting thro to the next week) while on the website they group together comments about the eliminated contestant

Well that would be appropriate, rather than having everyone being asked the same question, which would end up becoming all rather repetitive.

If you go on the BBC website they show them ALL talking about the departing contestant. It's purely editing.

I'm astonished that people don't realise that VT is edited! It's blindingly obvious...

But the audience don't. Imagine if they had to bring two outfits to the show! What chaos!

Of course the comments are edited. And isn't it funny how in the editing process they always show Louise talking about the departed celeb, almost wanting to show the audience at home oh look isn't she nice talking about Ed and not herself, yet they edit out Ore and Claudia and only show the bit where they talk if themselves? To people at home it makes them appear selfish and focused. It's obvious why they do it!

It's the same every week, some comment on how they'll miss the couple who have gone, some talk about staying in and looking forward to next week. The latter probably do talk about the DO losers but it doesn't make the edit.

They don't ALWAYS have Louise talking about the departed celebrity.
Only a couple of weeks ago, in week 8 results, Louise was on near the end and Kevin was saying they had the paso doble the next week. Also in weeks 6 and 7 she is not talking about the departed celeb either.

They alternate who they have saying what, but I suppose some people only see and hear what they want.

That is what I always notice. They all say what a wonderful person the one being eliminated is but the last person is edited to just say something about how they are looking forward to next week etc. Same every week but perhaps more noticeable with the smaller numbers now.

It is all in the edit. I expect they all say something about the person leaving, and then about the following week. As others have said, the last ones appear to only talk about themselves, but probably had talked about the person eliminated, we just don't hear it.

Whether it is a deliberate ploy? Who knows. Edits can be very easily used to manipulate public opinion.

Isn't it funny how some people only see what they pull out of their imaginations - or choose to see - and then pass it off as fact.

It's obvious why they do it.

Just as I did last week when this subject was raised here is the clip of what everyone says about Ed. including those who previously only seemed to talk about themselves.

It is like that every week; but it seemed odd to have 3 sympathetic comments and then get Ore and Claudia gushing about surviving and still being in.

It was edited very poorly and whilst I'm no fan of Ore I don't think it was that fair as it paints both him and Claudia not in a very good way.

However I'm sure the majority can see that it is edited... it just felt very uneven in how it was presented

I've noticed for the last few weeks they have had Ore talk about himself and I must say its very bad editing and not everyone has computer so people could see him as arrogant.

I thought you meant the interviews Tess has with them when they find out they are in the dance off OP. I find those so fake insincere and forced they are cringy to watch.
