TV3 is already an Irish channel, so a second channel called 'TV3 Ireland' would be even more confusing and less suitable.
Eh? How did you come to that?
Yes TV3 is an Irish channel. Same as UTV is Irish and it didn't stop UTV Ireland coming to air did it!
So TV3 Ireland isn't a stretch and the Irish are not stupid to know the difference or the rebrand!
B3 is moronic

LOL at the irony of you calling something moronic.

UTV is a Northern Irish channel, it's from an entirely different country to UTV Ireland, so the Ireland suffix differentiates the NI original (UTV) from the version south of the border (UTV Ireland)

TV3 is a Republic of Ireland channel, the same as UTV Ireland, TV3 Ireland would differentiate nothing, since the original TV3 is already for Ireland.

Since there's already 3e, it'd make more sense to call it 3b or 3u though for consistency.

B3 is a rubbish name but TV3 Ireland doesn't really work either. it sounds like a special version of TV3 for Ireland.

UTV's situation was different as the main channel was for Northern Ireland, whilst UTV Ireland was a different service for viewers in the Republic of Ireland.

Except they both broadcast to Ulster ,in NI case 6 counties of Ulster and the other 3 counties , .so they both legitimately could be called UTV

My theory on B3 (or whatever they end up calling it) is that, with newer shows moving back to TV3, B3 will eventually be used principally for drama and older-skewing shows as TV3's equivalent of ITV3/More4, given that when they bought Channel 6 they turned it into an ITV2/E4-type sibling channel as 3e...

That will free up about 20 SD slots, I wonder if Sky will do anything with them or just let them expire?

With the amouht of channels that have closed since the EPG launch queue was closed in 2007 there must be a case of re-opening it for a limited number of channels now.

It'll free up a fair few slots in the 700's, so perhaps another channel group could launch there, or pending a re-shuffle, a different channel group could move to the 700's allowing other channel groups to expand?

Studio 66 TV is now on sky channel number 907 6am-8pm.

This might lead to one of there lower number channel being removed from the EPG.

One idea could be:
Such as Documentaries group moving to start at 550 to 584 from 520 and Religion moving to start at 800 from 580.

International channels can be brought forward to 700 from 780. This means that the International section will be from 700 to 774 (as of 06/12/16). This will leave a big gap between Religion ending at 819 and Specialist at 872 onwards.

The current movies preview channel on 700 can then be moved to 313 or 345 to promote Sky Store.

Is this just affecting the Astra 2G feed?

Officially announced this morning by TV3 at a press conference UTV Ireland will rebrand to 3Be a female skewered channel on the 9th January 2017. Also TV3 and 3e will be rebranded on the same date.

does anyone know when channel 4 HD move to 104?
bit annoying having to put 227 in all the time when 5HD is on 105.

Be3 will show 3 kids programmes which are currently on 3e I think 7 .am to 10.am. The rest of the schedule will be made up of dramas and soap repeats. 3e is going to focus on the 14 to 44 year old audience. Interesting times for us irish viewers.
