I suppose the most we can expect is a rebrand to the Fox name and no new channel launches even if a take over is imminent. So nothing worth getting excited about I feel.

22613 - colour bars with red border and 1kHz tone (clear)

This will be Aplus Europe

(Maybe this is a new channel or it may be "A Plus"[ from Pakistan. We'll have to wait and see)
"A Plus set for UK launch", some info here- http://www.media247.co.uk/bizasia/ex...uk-launch-2016

Not sure about News as Fox News already exists so they may keep Sky News as a brand if all the others change. Australia has its own version of Sky News but sports are called Fox Sports 1,. 2 and 3 etc
Sky Sports and One are iconic as they are, I highly doubt they'd rebrand those channels.

Yep, can't see them dropping the Sky brand on anything significant that's on the platform, regardless of who owns it. Maybe one or two of the less significant Sky branded channels, but even then I don't see the point. Sky's brand is strong, don't see the benefit of changing it.

Sky One was called Sky Channel before that (and it started on Astra 19.2 East as "Sky Channel" then rebranded to Sky 1. However, I thought it started with another name when it was on 13 East on 11.658 V (that was it's original frequency I think).

Sky Sports (the one that is now Sky Sports 1) was "The Sports Channel" on BSB. This rebranded the day it started on Astra 19.2 East. - I think 15 April 1991 - but cannot remember the exact date.

Rebranding Sky channels to Fox would be a massive mistake from just a basic household known-manner.
Sky Sports is synonymous, Fox Sports in the UK isn't.
Plus you have the issue of FOX UK, run by a subsidiary of 21st Century Fox, that brings in a shit-ton of money to 21st Century Fox every year. Would look daft with 'FOX UK' 'FOX 1', 'FOX ATLANTIC', 'FOX ARTS' etc etc... Not to mention the FOX branded channels in Europe aswell as FOX SPORTS channels also on air in Europe.
It will remain Sky.

Question is, will it get regulatory approval? (LOL Of course it will, its a Tory Gov, who am i kidding....)

You may be right. It would be very confusing from a marketing point of view - and Sky is a well known name so why change it. Of course it would confuse "Fox" with "Fox" - ie you would not know whch one was which with the Fox UK channel etc etc.

Let's hope the names do not change - but who knows it may not get regulatory approval - even if it does actually happen. We will have to wait and see.

BTW update will be on Saturday.

I think it was simply called "Satellite TV".

You're welcome - I've edited to add Made in Teeside to the no confirmed timescales section - all the other Made in local TV channels are either on or coming to Sky.

All info subject to the usual caveats, of course.

Maybe some channels will get rebranded, such as Real Lives to Fox Life, turning Sky 2 in to Fox Crime may be good if they can get enough crime related material and shows, maybe launch a few other channels like Fox Animation and Fox Comedy, and maybe turn Sky Sports Mix in to Fox Sports

A rebrand of a couple of channels might take place to promote the Fox brand but new channel launches like Cartoons, Crime, and Comedy might be hard to launch as the UK market is full of those type of channels with the likes of Comedy Central which has most of the top quality content. Then you have True Crime and True drama along with the Cartoon channels from Cartoon Network, Nickelodeon and others. So it's hard to guess what changes would be made if any.

Of course the last time this was going to happen, waved through by the government, the phone hacking scandal blew up in Murdoch's face before it could be implemented, and the takeover of Sky was hastily abandoned.
Sadly I can't see anything similar happening this time!

I think it was simply called "Satellite TV".
Initially Satellite Television PLC and broadcasting for a couple of Hours a night to fledgling UK cable. Got re branded to Sky when it expanded to Europe

Comedy wise there is a lot of comedy no longer shown in the UK from the 80s & 90s - at the moment Comedy Central seems to show endless Friends and Two & A Half Men

Like wise with Crime - lots of things never shown in the UK any more like Hart to Hart, Charlies Angels, Scarecrow & Mrs King

The channels you mention here are not Sky owned so no change there. The only ones that could change would be the ones called "Sky..." something - IF an ovrall rebrand happens. It is not yet known if it will happen and we may not know any more until after Christmas.

The Sky brand is so well known in the UK I think it's very unlikely they will change it to Fox.

It will be a long while before anything happens as the takeover will have to go through all the regulatory hurdles, and we don't even know if Sky shareholders will agree to it yet.

It was Sky Channel on 13E, it started out as Satellite TV back in 1982 !
Sky channel was one of the first Pan European channels, its funny we don't have any of those any more!

Yes it is but he means general Entertainment channels - there are not many.

BTW "Satellite TV" in 1982 - was that not also on 13 East? Or was it on 27.5 West?
