I can see what they were trying to do here. In one sense, it's quite brave to depict Jewish victims of the Holocaust like this but you can also understand why it might be seen as very tasteless on an entertainment show. They clearly weren't atttempting to be offensive about the subject.

I thought it was very brave too, quite an affecting story with the love between the two of them and the sacrifice at the end.

Is a Light Entertainment show the place for it, maybe not- But it was pretty tasteful and I'd hope in the preamble they explained the story behind it. You'd never see it here because the Daily Mail would have a field day, but it was a tasteful interpretation of the film to ice dance so I think they deserve credit for that (And kudos to the choreographer for it too) I got goosebumps at the end.

I can't help thinking there is a lot of political correctness going on in denouncing them for doing it. They are clearly portraying the Holocaust as a horrible event and the Jewish people as innocent victims of it, it's a brave thing to do.

Agreed, but seeing the coverage of it a lot takes it out of context (There is a heavy insinuation that they were making light of the holocaust when the film is about shielding their child from the horrific nature of it and the Ice Dance depicts that)

I have to say, despite the faux outrage, I'm really pleased it garnered attention as it deserves credit for its performance more widely than Russia. Especially the little nuances as he says goodbye to his little boy. Probably one of the best routines I've ever seen for this type of thing.
